Title: You can change the board colors if you like
Post by: john on January 10, 2006, 07:22:55 PM
OK you can choose from 3 themes to change the look and color of the board.

All you have to do is click on "Profile" button.  In the left column you will see a link under "Modify Preferences" called "Look and Layout Preferences"  Select it and the top field called "Current Theme"  allows you to change the theme from Black to white/blue.  So now you have a choice  8)

Awesome, +1 to the blue scheme.  Wasn't a huge fan on the black theme.

I look'd at them both, and althought the blue "classic" is much easyer to read, I think I'm gonna stick with the black. its got more of a "bad a$$" feel to it, and I'm all about bad a$$ on my gs.... :icon_lol:  :icon_rolleyes:

*Edit test by Scratch* nothing removed.

I definitely like the blue....but I can't find the button to click to get unread messages since my last visit.... Is it hidden, or is it not a feature of the purdy blue section?  :dunno_white:

SMF default has it, but the old classic Yabb scheme doesn't (at least I don't see it anywhere).

Thanks for brightening my view on this board.  :thumb: BlackTech was way too hard to view and my monitor didn't have the range to compensate.  Must be getting old.

I prefer the layout of the BlackTech better than the other one, despite the color (or lack thereof, I guess). I think the BlackTech is a bit more streamlined. I like the layout of the thread order at the top of the messages (line, rather than a tree).

Although I respect your right to choose and you're always welcome to your opinion, the prevailing mood seems to be turning "to the light".

When I responded this morning, there were 104 who were using Classic YaBB SE Theme.  Now there's 118!!

Your night vision must be better than mine, Alpha.  I do agree though that the BlackTech/Default theme does look cool if I turn out the lights. (I may switch back after the family heads to bead...)   :)

Heh, yay, I'm a switched guy... . wait..

The gray one is cooler, everything fits better.. but is just too hard to read. Plus I like blue.

Can you tell?

You know what.. I dont even remember what the color of the old one was.. I think that is a bad thing.

The dark theme looks great, albeit a bit, well, dark. I can deal with it though because the text isn't horribly difficult to read. I just wish the lighter one had the same forum expansion that the dark one does. The line expansion just looks so much better than the tree expansion (as shown in the picture before). The dark one is more reminiscent of the old board, too. Maybe I'm just feeling a bit nostalgic.

If I could merge the two themes together and keep the features I like in both of them, I would.

+1 to what John Bates said.

Black might look cool if we had chalk colored letters and a teacher handwriting font.

There are two white board themes.  You may find the SMF white to have the new posts link you want.

Thanks, John.  A couple of days ago, it looked like both the "default SMF" and the "dark and darker" custom SMF were the only two SMF.  The default SMF looks fine.  Some of us are just too darned cheerful to use the black one

Which ever one you want to use, can you change the default soon? I hop from PC to PC at the MWR here and so saving a specific setting would be meaningless... The black/grey scheme is very bland and depressing. I makes me want to to jump off a bridge or something.

Eh, it's still got the tree format for the thread listing (above the posts I've got 4 little folders open), but it's a lot nicer than the blacktech one. Muuuuch nicer!
