Title: Why are bikes so cheap in New York, Ny?

I've been looking at bikes and I'm finding 2003 600cc sport bikes with under 5000 miles on them for $3000 and under...is that normal?

they could be stolen or salvaged.....

in Toronto you can find lots of cheap stuff. I think its because guys buy fast bikes and either can't handle them, drop them and are forever scared off, or that they get one speeding ticket and can't afford insurance anymore.

man thats nice... if only insurance wasn't so insane I'd be all over that thing.

I've heard that insurance is EXPENSIVE in NY.  Since I live in MA, I can't be used as a source.  Most bikes I saw coming from NY were not of good condition.  Very few were.  Lots of drops, crashes, and salvage titles.
