Title: Is it easy to change to change brake Lever !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: edwinviteri on January 12, 2006, 11:57:53 PM
Hi all,  Just recently dropped my bike and a piece of the brake lever broke.  Just wanted to know if it's easy to change the brake lever or should I take it to shop.

No the brake lever is possibly the hardest thing on the bike to change...actually one of the hardest things to do at all...right up there with trying to beat I love YOU at a staring contest when she's mad at you and splitting atoms with a hammer.

(pliers, couple wrenches, 30 minutes your first attempt...total snap...;) )

The brake lever IS easy to change.

You don't have to worry about bleeding brakes or anything like that - just remove the old one and put on the new one.

The mastercyclinder (where the brake fluid resides) is self contained so no fluid will leak out.

Pliers!? What the heck do use the pliers for when changing out a brake lever?

A 10mm wrench and a flathead screwdriver is all you need, and it'll take ya less than 5 minutes.

Thanks for all your advices so I guess is kind of like changing the clutch lever.  For some reason it seemed pretty complex.
Alright and thanks again to you all

I was thinking the rear brake lever...my bad.  You'd need the pliers to pull the pin out of the M/C dowell thingy.
