Okay, you search nazi's out there! I did search, of course, but I can't find any good pics of the Srinath flange installed.
I put mine on this weekend. I think I may have made my cut too far back (better than too far forward).
But the pipe isn't at a great angle and it isn't clearing the banjo bolt on the rear brake and is very near the reflector on that side.
Please post pics of you Wileyco installed and the area of the flange under the footpeg.
I need to know if I need to cut more off.
Thanks!
Jakester
Okay, since nobody seems to want to rush to my aid, I did more searching and found 70camguy's excellent post on the Wileyco install on the 5th page of results.

So it seems that 3 inches from the weld is the best place to cut?
Yes, yes?
I had to do it twice (cut that is). Cut to about 1.25 inches from the weld where the two go into one. then install the flange. I had to push down on the can to get the angle right, oterwise it sutck up to about where it touched the rear turn signals. I am at work, let me see if I can find some pics.

I didn't rush to your aid because I couldn't really help :icon_razz: I only have a couple of pics of the bike since the wileyco, and it is in storage 1/2 hour away from me right now. Plus, RG and Srinath gave me hell over how my wileyco wasn't right anyway. :icon_rolleyes: :icon_rolleyes: :icon_rolleyes:I had a shop weld it on. But anyways..

Thanks guys.
Bottom line, I think my cut is at least 4 inches from from the weld right now, which is way too far.
How tight were you able to get the steel support band around the can?
Phae:
I like how your can looks. I remember RG not liking the extension bracket but to be honest, I think that is what mine may need because it hits the brake when I sit on it and compress the rear shock.
I did get to ride it a bit with the Wileyco. Sounds goooood.
Honestly, the strap was the hardest part of the whole install. I wrestled with the bastard for a good half hour but it finally bent and fit on there without the extension. If you would like, I can measure my cut distance as I have the headers off for some maintenance.
I had to buy a longer bolt and put some spacers in there to keep my can from rubbing on the banjo bolt.
That (spacer) might be what I end up doing it cutting it doesn't do the trick.
I don't need a ton of clearance. It is nice and high and tight but it needs to move out about an inch.
Jake, did you see this when you did your search? If not, here it is again anyway..haha.

RG can say what she wants, but I like it and it works :thumb:
Phaedrus ... yes I love your can ... what else can I say ... your avatar is scaring me ...
Anyway make sure you dont cut it too short, obviously ... put a pic up and I will tell you what to do ... sometimes headers bend enough if crashed etc ... to make installation a living hell ...
Cool.
Srinath.
I didn't have my camera but my little sister took a picture.
She is a dumbass though and couldn't find her USB cable. So if she finds it, I'll post a pic. Either that or I'll take one with my camera when the weekend rolls around.
I am sure I cut it at least 4 inches from the weld. Maybe six inches. Dunno. I'm really bad at gauging measurments below 9 inches for sum reason.
ttt with this.
Who was that kid that put all that blood on the mid-pipe to seal the leak there? That was a great pic.
Here is a pic of the installed pipe. Obviously, too little was removed from the mid-pipe. Thoughts?

OK that part isn't too clear, anyway looks like you're not hitting anything though ??? so what was the original problem ... and now have you taken care of it ??
Cool.
Srinath.
It hits the banjo bolt on the rear brake when I sit on it and hit a bump.
Notice, it comes up past the rear reflector and very near the blinker, a clear "indicator" that I need to cut more mid-pipe off (which is exactly what I will do).
I just wanted to show off my bike.
Isn't it pretty????
Depending on what batch of mine your mid pipe came from ... that torch the rear turnsignals might have been a feature ... then some cry baby's were complaining that their turn signals were too precious to be burnt ... and I ended up making the last 1-2 sets lower ... either way ... your rear suspension might be needing to be swapped out if you move it that far sitting on it. Also you can yank the thing to the outside and clamp it on with the foot peg carrier ... You header may have a bit of a bent in type thing too ... very very common. Seen it as much as 1+ inch off easy. You can shove a pipe over it and bend it out too.
Cool.
Srinath.
No, I have to bounce on it to get it to hit the banjo bolt.
I actually already swapped out the rear shock. That is a 2003 SV 650 shock. Notice the board under the kickstand?
I don't need the board, but it sure helps because that sucker it TALL now!
I may cut a bit more off the mid-pipe and call it good.
