Does anyone know what happend to the guy that was making the carbon fiber looking crank case stickers with the Suzuki "S" on them? I rememeber seeing the post a while ago, but can't seem to find it again. If he's still around, I'm sure he could get enough orders to do another batch of them. I know I sure would like a set.
Same here! :)
Yea I want some too !
I would like to buy some too!
I bought some I never put on. Now I can't find them!!!!
agghghhhhhh!!! They were expensive too! I'm pissed.
I thought they were only like $20 a set. I would kill for set of those. anybody know anything about who made them?
here's the original post....

if anybody has an old set of red laying around I'll buy those too.
Yea I want x 2 red please.Possibly the site could get some and offer x 2 decals plus a GS500.com decal deal for say $15.00. It may help raise money for the site. Just an idea.

....I really doubt it considering these cost $38 a pair and that was about as cheap as they could get....
Maybe I should send the guy an e-mail asking him if there was any chance he could make up another order.
If so I need to know how many people would be interested in them so I can tell him in the e-mail.
This is a pic of them mounted just so everyone knows what they look like.

Let me know if you would be interested in a set, and what colour.
...have you tried contacting Seamax???....he was the person behind the order last time...
Those look awesome! Depending on the price, I'd want a blue one. :thumb:

I sent him a pm but that wasn't very long ago. I'll give him a couple days to get back to me then I'll start working out having them made myself.
I found a couple places that can do it, but I'm going to need a minimum order, and I'm not sure on price yet. Like I said, I'm not gonna put too much effort into this until I'm sure that seamax isn't around anymore. I will have them made, but honestly I would rather have seamax do it because he's done it before and knows the best place to have it done.
I'm also thinking if I do it I might change the design a bit. Not exactly sure how yet, and I'm open to suggestions.
Oh and xtalman, I'll still buy yours when you find them. It will be nice to have an example to show the shop that has to make them.
So what do I have for orders so far?

I'm gonna need more than this to make up an order.
Also they will be sold in sets of two. One for both sides.
I would like to buy :
1 set of blue
2 sets of red
I would buy a set of Blue

That's 9 orders. I think I'm gonna need about 20 or 25 as a minimum.
EDIT: I WILL need aleast 25 orders to get it done. Minimum orders with the companies I've checked out are 50 pieces. 25 orders x 2 stickers an order= 50 peices. Still no word on price.
Also I'm interested in hearing any input about how we can make these better. How do you think we can make them look cooler? I've got a few ideas, but I wanna know what other people think.

This is for everybody:Still no word on price. Expect it to be around that.
Just let me know if you're interested and when I get a price, if it's too high, you don't have to buy them.
All funds will have to be collected before the order goes into the company. So when I figure out how much they are, you either send me the money or you don't get a set.
You
CAN NOT pay me after the order is already into the company.
You have some time; I will not put the order into the company for at least another 2 weeks to make sure that anyone who wants a set has a chance to put their order in with me. (or seamax if he ends up making them)
I am in for a set of blue ones
Need new stickers any ways
Been working on this for abit.
I spent some time making my own fake carbon, and my own black chrome looking 'S'
The 'S' would look like its poping out when in reality it would be just like the others, flat.
let me know what you guys think of this?
I kinda don't want to copy exactly what was done before.
I'd like to put my own spin on it, but will do the plain ones if thats what people want.... :icon_confused:
EDIT: added some shading to the carbon in the background. looks alot better
More variations still to come! Please leave input!
....I could be down for a set in black...

I like the prototype pic you posted! The only thing I would change is the size of the S. I think it should be a bit bigger.
Sorry for the noob question, but I think it might need to be addressed... Are all these bikes the same size? I have an '04. I know lots have changed vs. an '89 or so...

Total of 13 orders. Only 12 more to go.
Running into a slight snag... the one manufacturer I talk to said in order for them to print this, they would have to have a release form from Suzuki because I'm using their logo. So I either need to find a way to get permission from Suzuki, or find another company that doesn't care about such things.
Does anyone have experience in getting permission form a company to use their logo? How difficult is it? I imagine not to easy....
None the less the guy is still going to send me a quote.
I think you are probably better off getting someone in a dark alley to print them 8)
lol call the main office .. and just be lke hey hommie . i want to print up some case stickers for a bunch of GS500 riders .. i want to use your logo can i ? if so i need a fax saying so ASAP thanks !! .. if they say no .. you should be like ok .. well .. all us GS500 riders will trade our bikes in and get hondas ! :P ( cant get the the kaw. cuz last i heard suz. and kaw. merged .. i know the dirtbikes did .. and they would probly be like .. ok go for it  ) i'd call the main office and see .. cant hurt
just go into word and make a nice fake suzuki letterhead fax sheet and send it over =)
this site is one of the best in giving good accurrate info and not a lot of bs and gets a lot of riders onto suzukis
if you dun wanna do that, there's nothing illegal about a "slight" modification, just change a tiny curve - remmeber what vanilla ice said - it's just taht little bit of difference that makes the big difference
oh also put me in for a set of yellow
I was thinking about talking to somone or sending an e-mail somthing like:
"I'm in the process of making a sticker for the GS500 that fits onto the crank case to cover up any scratches that may have occurred from dropping the bike. I would like to use the stylized Suzuki "S" in my design but written consent is needed from head office. I will only be making between 50 and 60 pieces and they will be sold to fellow gs500 riders who have pre-placed their orders. The stickers will be high quality domed stickers that reflect the high quality products that Suzuki offers. I will only be making one batch in 4 assorted colours (Black, Red, Yellow and Blue) and they will be sold in sets of two. They will fit both the gs500e as well as the gs500f. My artwork and design are available if needed. Thank you so much for you time and I look forward to your response."
I work as a copy center manager, and I know exactly what the company is saying. You have to have a detailed letter from Suzuki stating that the said printer, can use the "S" logo for said printed project, for said customer, "you". Also need a quantity allowance. Some companies will let you do as much as you need, some limit your usage. Try to to mention that you are SELLING THEM. The moment that a company hears that you're selling them, they usually yank the permission.
Well there not dumb, I think there gonna know that I'm selling them if I'm making 50 or more. I guess I could say I am giving them to users in return for a donation to the gstwin website. And then I would just have to make a contribution to the site for each set I sell. But to be honest with ya, I wasn't planning on making any money off of these, I'm just doing it so everyone can get a set and because I want a couple sets myself.
I'm gonna see if the printer has a form I can sign that says I will take all responsibility if Suzuki decides to sue.
Or maybe I'll just find a printer that can do them without asking any questions.
Well, when you talk to a Suzuki Rep, you don't have to tell them how many you're making. Most copy shops / sign makers don't even check to find out HOW MANY they can legally make. They just wanna know IF they can legally make them.
I might have a line on a "no questions asked" printer. MIGHT being emphasized. Nothings for sure yet. It looks like this printer might end up costing a bit more though, hopefully I'll still be able to keep them at $38 a set or less. Actually I'm not going to make them if they're going to cost more than that. It's just not worth it.

Common people, I'm only going to make one batch of these EVER! This could be your last chance to get a set. If you tend to dump you bike I suggest you get a couple sets because your going to be pissed if you dump the bike and these the only thing that you can't replace. There gonna be $38 or less just like the old ones, but with a better graphic if you ask me.
btw, does this mean I get to add graphic designer to my Résumé? :icon_mrgreen:
Question... What kind of material is this exactly?
I might be able to make them, and if not, I have a friend who's parents have a vinyl sign business.
ask them if they can do domed decals? they'll know what they are.

i don't know if this has been mentioned or not but these stickers are not real carbon fiber. when i sold mine to some dude, he accused me of coning him for selling a fake carbon fiber. i'm just letting everyone know.

Violence is NOT the answer!!!
The answer is revenge!
Stupid people require as much of it as possible. They're using up all the resources of the world, when it could be used by people like us!
If you think its real carbon fiber I'm flattered. That means that my graphic is good enough to be passed as the real thing :icon_mrgreen:
Before you send the design to be printed I suggest you create several prototypes and the group buying the stickers can vote which one is the best for each color.
From a constructive critisism stand point: You might want to try a tighter carbon fiber weave design. It will emulate the real thing better. Also a slightly larger S perhaps?
ALSO: Can you check what kind of adhesive backing will be put on the sticker? It should be 3M SCOTCH something. It is very sticky and won't peel off.
The last thing anyone wants is their $40 stickers flying off while riding!
I'd like a set of blue ones??? on a lighter background if possible, not white, i just found the carbon weave really dark?? and if not i still want blue ones?
IF you stick with the old design, i would like a set of black....
I'll take a set in black, thank you. :icon_razz:

So is this a real "order"? or are these questions? I got confused...
It's more of a "feeler" as I see it. Just trying to see if there will be enough interest for him to keep trying to find a shop to make these, since they will most likely require a min. order. But hopefully, people aren't saying they're in if they don't mean it :nono:

Before anyone's money is taken or anything is being printed, I will make sure the final design/designs are posted so everyone can make up their mind once and for all. I was thinking about making the carbon fiber in the background a little smaller, but I'm not sure how small I can go due to printing restraints. As for the adhesive, I will find out, but I still suggest that you use some high heat glue as suggested by someone else.

It'll depend on the printer I go with, but I highly doubt that I'll be able to change the design from set to set. So you'll probably just have to take the same blue as everyone else. That's not a for sure answer, just a realistic one.
QuoteIF you stick with the old design, i would like a set of black....
I will not be sticking with the old design, if I'm going to do them then I've got to make them my own, and not copy someone else's design exactly. If you'd still like a set, let me know.

bsd,
This is where I ordered it for my car and then ask if they could do a batch for GSTwin.
http://www.autotrimdesign.net/detail.jsp?itemId=11774&category=9544
They actually designed and incorporated the Suzuki 'S' logo for me and sent me a few picture samples of different colors with the CF background. These are cool because they are 'domed' shape which means the sticker is raised and not flat. All I did was measured the old suzuki sticker diameter on the crankcase and took another diameter measurement of the crankcase indentation without the sticker to make sure that they were close and sent that measurement to them for the sticker size.
I don't remember the contact's name but only his email since it's been a while but you can just email, jmthienel@autotrimdesign.com, ask him. He's in charge of product info and can give you prices, etc. You can refer to my other sticker thread to make sure that they don't overprice you on groupdeals. He might even have the old template so you don't have to design your own. I don't anything about printing cf stuff but I would be afraid that it would fade, streak, etc with the weather. The product we got from these guys was not real cf but it is top notch quality. I've ridden my bike thru snow, rain and mud the sticker adhesive is still strong and there is no sign of fading or tear at all.
I still have a pair of purple and two pairs of lime green for sale if anyone wants a pair.
We wanted yellow ones and the first batch came out lime green so they gave me those for free.
Hope that helps and if you have anymore questions, I'll be around. Now someone buy my fender and these dang ugly purple and lime stickers.

We wanted yellow ones and the first batch came out lime green so they gave me those for free.
Hope that helps and if you have anymore questions, I'll be around. Now someone buy my fender and these dang ugly purple and lime stickers.
You're my hero! Thank you so much!

Well everybody, things are looking better with getting these stickers made up once again. I'll talk to these guys and get some for sure prices and finalized graphics.
Stay tuned. Still could use afew more orders.

Ok, input it is. This is the first time I've been remotely tempted. Very nice looking indeed- might have to consider it.
The thing is, the whole idea of fake carbon puts me off. I hate fake... well... anything. And it's just sooo trendy right now, it's hard to imagine that it won't look dated and silly a few years down the road.
Still, that's a very classy graphic. Mumble...

Well they can do real carbon fiber too, but the difference in price would most likely eliminate more than half of the people who are interested in these. Think about it. Would you buy a piece of cf sticker when for the same price you could get a nice used set of
rear pegs for you GS. Something in that line.

Well I'm glad I impressed you. If you want a set, let me know and I'll put your name down. Like I said before, I'm only going to be doing this once. So if you think you might want a set in the future, I suggest buying a set now.
Just because you have them, doesn't mean you have to use them. It's better than kicking your self later on when you can't get a set and want a one.
And if later on you don't want them, then you can sell them to some other GS'er who needs a set.
No pressure, just sharing my thoughts.

Alright, I need a little help here. I need a few people; (some E's and some F's) to measure the space were the sticker will fit into. I want to make sure these are all the same. I don't have my bike at my house so I can't measure them myself. Also if someone has a pair of stickers around (seamax comes to mind) could they pleas take a measurement of them so I can get a good idea of the size they need to be. This is a diameter measurement I'm looking for. Like I said, I'd like to get a couple of measurements from different people, so please help out.
I just ran outside in the freezing cold weather without a coat. :cookoo:
By the time I got back to my laptop, it's either 3 1/4" or 3 1/8". I really think I measured 3 1/4".
I also noticed for the first time that the case cover is NOT a flat surface on the '04f... This being the case, I am sorry to say that I will not be purchasing a set of these stickers. Sorry dude.

Yes it's not flat, so what? You're not going to notice that when the stickers on and the sticker will flex and conform to the curved surface. I'm confident that these will work and stay on because I'm going to use the same manufacturer that was used for the last batch. And the people who had a set from the last batch have had no problems with staying on or fading, and from the pics I've seen, and they look really good mounted. But it's up to you in the end, just let me know if you want your name off the list for sure. I will only be ordering enough for the people on the list, so if you decide you want a set afterwards, it'll be too late and you will have missed your chance. Just something to think about.
Thanks for the measurement, but I need to know for sure. I can't be guessing when it comes to this. Don't worry about measuring it again if it's a hassle, I'm sure other people will be able to help me out.

I don't see anything worth fighting over in that post. Did I come off rude? Didn't mean to.... that's the problem with the internet, its so impersonal. How someone says something has so much to do with its meaning.
Say for instance a text message from a loved one that says "we need to talk"
It could mean "we need to talk and break up" or "we need to talk, I have some fantastic news"
I'm also probably a little sour due to bike with drawls, as someone else mentioned.
yes it was sort of rude and on the interent u must talk like a computer or something non emotional.
I'll try to be more straight forward and emotionless in the future..... :icon_confused: :icon_rolleyes:
good luck!!!!
My apologies to annguyen1981 for my unintentional rudeness.

Don't sweat it BSD. I re-read your post twice and I can't find anything offensive.
Anyway, you really hit the spot on my only concern. I was thinking that because the surface is curved, the sticker would eventually start peeling off.
This is where I measured the first time. I know this pic sucks, but you can barely see an "inner ring" on the cover. I measured inside that ring. I would imagine that if the sticker were to extend beyond that, the sticker would kinda bulge out at the edges, making it peel off eventually.
Thankz you ugly bastard. I'm gonna stay in the order.
(just kidding on the bastard part.... I can't really say if you're ugly or not. I know I am... that's why I'm glad my state has a helmet law... Otherwise the other drivers would be shocked just by looking at me without my helmet.)

I'm still open to suggestions and willing the change the design. please leave feedback. thanks.
I like the blue, but here's a thought...
instead of having so much CF showing, how about the back of the "S" being the same color as the case cover (silver) and he "S" being CF
that won't work. not all GS crank covers are silver. some are black. I'm not really sure if I like the idea of just a carbon "S" but I'll try it out....

More to come.
I like this design more, looks like it would match the bike colors more. Don't really care for the metallic, esp in the yellow(which is what I need).
Also, apparantly in the last batch, the yellows came out kawasaki green - ick. Can we make sure that the printers don't make the same mistake with these?

That's exactly 25. I'll still take more orders though if anybody wants them. You've probably only got about another week to make up your mind. Then I'm putting the order in. If you've been thinking about getting a set, let me know. Yes, I will make sure that there is no lime green stickers. Everything will be the colours that they should be. I'm still gonna try to do a couple more designs. We'll see what I come up with. S S S S
I like the silver backed "S" best.
I really don't want to do a silver backed "S" for 2 reasons.
1- It will be hard to match the exact shade of silver found on the cases. And it will most likely end up looking mismatched and silly.
2- Not all crank cases are silver, so it would look even weirder on a GS with black cases.
I'd like to make something that everyone is going to be happy with, but I'm honestly not to crazy about this silver background business. My reasons are stated above /\.
righto lookin good my man. any idea when a price may avalable i just need to ummm list it as a needed item in the old check book if you chach my drift..... oops the check keeper is coming..... latter

I meant this one. The metallic silver shaded "S" on black carbon fiber background. Can I change my order to this one?
BTW: I have a black '92 and it does have a black case.
I wonder how they'd look if the S were a bit larger to fill more of the empty space.

excuse the image quality, these are just to get an idea. the finished product will be nicer.
Can you show me what the blue will be like for this style? I'm kinda liking this:
that yellow above is sweet, as you said i am sure it will be even better. thats the one we will get or it that one dif from the first one you listed? any idea on the price. i just want to plan ahead and be sure to have it, i am beting on the side of 50$ if not enough let me now i will put more to the side for them. thnaks man its looking great.
they will not be more than $38. I'm hopeing to be able to lower the price alittle as well. I will not be making more thanf one type of yellow. all the yellow's will be the same. The blues, reds and blacks while being different from eachother, will have one style for each colour.
does that make any sence?
and I need to come up with a better blue design
Alright. I've come down to what I think the best of the designs are. This is what I've got:
(http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b89/gimmeaname1234/crankcovershades.jpg) (http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b89/gimmeaname1234/crankcoveryellowshade.jpg)

If everyone's happy with these, I'll go about speaking with the manufacturer about printing them and pricing.
I'd like to hear from as many people as possible (if not everyone on the list) about if they're happy with these as a final product.
Speak now or forever hold your piece.
Still taking orders if anyones interested.
I am down right giddy for the yellow. Looks great.
Any chance you will get a test batch of the real thing? At this point I am down either way.
Good looking out :thumb:
Yep I still like it. Me want black, though that red looks good too. It sort of depends on which bike but I guess the black is pretty universal. :dunno_white:

Definately like the new blue, you hit it on the head with that one.
I'd like to see the yellow in the same look as the blue or red. The yellow looks good on here, but I don't think it will match the bright yellow of the bikes.

Well none of the colours are going to match up absolutely perfectly, but I think you may be right. I think the GS yellow is a little darker
(http://personal.ecu.edu/boydd/motorcycle/DSC_0017.jpg) (http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b89/gimmeaname1234/crankcoveryellowshade.jpg)
I honestly don't think its that big of a problem because you get a lot of different shades of yellow in the paint because of reflections. I don't want to change the design of the yellow sticker, but I will make the yellow a little darker if it's absolutely necessary.
yeah i'm cool with whatever as long as it will save my crankcase, as after this riding season my bike is being torn apart into a track bike!!!! so it's gonna get a beating this summer or next fall, either way, and I do plan on wiping out!!!
Stick with what cha got! Darker willl look like musturd.
I do hope for a test batch first though.

These really won't "save your crankcase" , they are just stickers and not guards. On a light brush, it might keep the case guards safer, but a drop and it'll cut through them. These are for a diff lok, or covering up that shredded cover if it's already been down.

couldn't have said it better myself.
huh?? I was under the impression that these could guard your crankcase??? from road rash?? um can I change my mind??? and if not that's cool, i'll stick pay for them cause i ordered them and that was my stupid fault!!
They will cover up scratches that are already on the crank cases, but do nothing to prevent damage if the bike is laid down or dropped. You can take your name off the list at this point if you like, but like I said before, this is a one time deal. So if you think that there's any chance you will want a set in the future, you should just buy them now. If you don't end up using them you can always sell them to some newcomer to the board in the future. Whatever you choose, just let me know and I will either take your name off or not.
i'm not to sure that i like the blue one
I really like the desing of the black one but i'm not too sure how it would look on a blue gs

The nice thing about the black one is that it will look good on any bike, in any colour. It kinda matches everything. Personally I really like the blue and think that it would look really good on a blue GS. But it's your bike and your choice. Let me know.
Well do you still need me to make the order 25, I don't want to screw anyone because of my own stupidity??? if the answer is no, then i don't really need a set, but would like someone here to find a way to fabricate a pair of case savers??? the kind that protects the bike???
no I think it should be ok if you drop your order. but if to many people do the same then we could be screwd
Just thought about this, and I'm you you have too BSD, but make sure the printer knows these will be in a pretty high temp area and we don't get cheap adhesive that's gonna melt off the first time we ride with em on and lose them on the highway :thumb:

I'm not sure what you're trying to say in the first part of this post. But the stickiness issue has already been addressed. I'm using the same manufacturer as previously used and there were no problems with them. I will make sure to state what they are being used for before printing.
I was just saying that I'm sure that same thought had crossed your mind about the glue melting

just out of wondering, do you have an ebay account, if you want you could sell them this way and get you numbers up and look good, i know i would, just a thought if you haven't. if you do a closed sell there all you need is ower names on it to sell to us.
course then cost would go up do to ebay fees....

Any word on price yet?
Have you thought about posting this on other boards to maybe get a bigger order/better price. These would work on all Suzi's so there could be a good response on a Katana/SV forum.
I know it would prolly take more effort, especially getting everyone to pay, so I can understand if you wanted to stick with here, but just a thought.
not really do it in one bidding, just have a (lot) as they call it, then when you pay be sure to remind him of which one you wanted, it would make the money thing simple and such but thats just my idea he can do it any way he wants.
Basically how I'm going to do it is when the time comes to send money, just send me the money via Paypal, leave your gstwin name in the subject and I will have your shipping info with the payment. There's still 5 people I haven't herd from yet; roger04gs500f, surlybruce, rangerbrown, fretbuzz, and nmred. I haven't sent them pms yet but it's on my to-do list. I am going to send an e-mail to the company tomorrow about price for the sitckers, provided I don't get home from work too late. So hopefully we'll find out soon. Keep watching this thread for info. Oh and as for posting this opportunity on other forms, its good idea, but then it becomes a lot more work. And who's gonna send money to some guy that no one knows and has like 2 posts on a board. If you guys wanna work something out with another board that your on let me know, I'll do my best to help everyone out.
HOWDY ! I still want my stickers and would rather pay by using a US money order once I know the final cost. As everyone knows there is a WAR on in AFGANASTAN and I was involved with the sniper course and have been away for a bit.
You get alittle ~ beside your name if I've heard from you about likeing the final designs.

AlphaFire found this diagram...
The stock SUZUKI logo on the case is a sticker, so removing this before installing BSD's sticker would probably look better

Sorry guys, I've been working on it but not having any luck.
I sent the guy an e-mail explaining what I wanted to do and he said, 'alright send the images over'
So I did.... Never heard from him again. I sent him 2 follow up e-mails with no response. I don't know what his deal is. He left me a phone # I could call, but I haven't called it yet because its long distance and I didn't want to do it unless I have to. I might give in and call him tomorrow if I can find the time.
Good thing I haven't taken anyone's money yet.
I hear you bro . The world is full of assholes that will promise you the world and deliver nothing.
