I'm simply putting out an open question about the rapidly decreasing toleration level for PW going on here lately. I've seen a few threads moved to the TF simply because they had been PW'd. I am under the impression that the TF is for "Any dumb posts, fights, annoying or offensive threads are tossed here."
I personally don't view post such as "Word Association", "Jokes for the girls", or "Never have I ever" as dumb, annoying, fighting, or offensive. They may be silly and nonsenscal, but they are basically just fun little games for the people who want to play. They are completely harmless and unoffensive.
Additionally, continual movement of these type of posts won't stop or slow down PW'ing, perhaps it is better simply to live with a certain level of PW'ing as opposed to have the PW'ers begin PW'ing in the GD. The O&E section is "A place to relax," which to me means having a little fun, not at anyone's expense (except Pandy's), and having a nice chuckle or two.
Again, I'm not blasting anyone, just trying to get some input from other members, mods, and admins, as well as put my opinion out there. I appreciate all the candid comments to come.
Post whoring wastes bandwidth that John and the gracious donors are paying for. Post whoring also makes it difficult to sift through all the sh*t posts trying to get to the real replies
It isn't about being offensive most of the time

Well that about sums it up. PWing on a moderate level is fine, but for some it has gotten out of hand. Pandy pays generously for her PWing :icon_mrgreen: but the reality is it caused us to get booted by our old host and that sucked. So that's the root of the problem and nothing more.
This forum is specifically for PWing. As long as it stays here I suppose it's OK. But posting just for the sake of building a post count is a tad annoying. This is the first thing I have really said about PWing -I have basically kept my mouth shut about it because some people like posting lots of stuff and I don't want to crap on their parade. hey whatever, we're here and so far no problems with the new host so I can't realy say much about it.
This IS why:
"Any dumb posts, fights, annoying or offensive threads are tossed here."
PWing falls into those two categories. I think its OK to do it in a thread that was made for it but it seems to often leak into other treads then it becomes Dumb and Annoying.
especially the lame smileys and f***ing +1 posts.
Nothing worse than checking a legit thread and having to sift through 20 posts of +1's. At least come up with something a little more original.

Every forum I've ever been on has its chattier members and its more-serious members (and no, I don't always lead the chattiers :flipoff:) Every *community* I've ever belonged to, internet or irl, has its ebb and flow of seriousness and lightness. Looking back over the previous years, the winter time seems to be when GSTwin goes through its own time of cabin fever.
I do feel bad that the PW'ing has caused john such trouble, and I do believe that those of us who are....uh...chattier....should contribute in a ....uh...chatty fashion. :icon_mrgreen: And I've also been trying to contain my....uh....natural exuberance. Heck, I *have* been cabin-bound for over a week, and my daily average has gone DOWN. I've even talked about GS's!! :thumb:
No one's ever going to agree on everything. Hopefully, we can all strike a balance between tolerance and consideration for others. :kiss3:
Group hug? :icon_razz: :icon_mrgreen:
Love,
pandy

I was wondering about the bandwith thing when I typed the original post, but since I don't really know that much about it, I didn't know how relevant it was.....now as far as the "gracious donors", I just wonder how many of them are the real PW culprits.....I PW some and I've donated too....and I know Pandy does (the queen PW)...so this point while very true, may also be somewhat moot, considering some of us pay to PW....
....also, as far as the PW'ing making posts undecipherable....the threads I refered to were not the type where one would go to find great GS knowledge and info...that is contained in the mostly PW free GD board....
....but what is wrong with having people agree with someone's post??...I see too many posts that advocate disagreement, and usually end up being the kind of post the TF was created for....I know when I make a thread and have an idea, every "+1" means something to me....

....apparently you didn't read/understand or ignored/misunderstood my above paragraph about why I don't think the cited threads aren't dumb or annoying...of course you may find them to be, and that's your opinion....but the point I'm really trying to get to is that the threads I pointed out were basically specifically designed for PW'ing.....and deleting them will only cause more threads to ultimately become PW'd...
I've been able to ride for the last two days and hopefully tomorrow too (To the BIG E bike show). I haven't really posted TOO much lately because of that. Pandy is right. Come summer-time, I'm sure we won't have this problem. :thumb:
exactly even for a guy with puny gonads youve got it right there jk lol, i know it would seem like a lot of work, but perhaps john could assign or promote a mod to monitor pw's and perhaps delete some posts that were put there for numbers sake only and adjust post counts accordingly? :dunno_white:
The reason I have puny gonads is to get real close to the tank. Since I'm only 5'6", I need this advantage! :thumb:

Why does SV Devon have mastrind's avatar?
Was this a consentual swiping of an avatar? We need to flesh this out.
P.S.: Smiley posts suck.

It's more than a tad... I think it sucks.
I'm probably one of the worst post-whores here, but I always try to post when I have something to say or to support something... I don't post for the sake of a number. I honestly don't give a crap how many posts I've made... Although, it is interesting to look at sometimes... "Wow... I really post THAT much?" :icon_rolleyes:
I agree that some of the posts being moved aren't TF material... But, hey... This isn't my board and I don't make the rules... I can still come here 'cause I'm allowed to come here by the owner (Thanks buddy! (a little ass-kisssing never hurts)).
As far as the +1s go... That's why they invented POLLS!!! :thumb:

Like I said so far there are no issues with our new host so people can feel free to post up.

They're obviously NOT keeping you busy enough at your new job, john! :flipoff:
So...basically what this means is that I started over, cuz 10,000 = 0, so I've really only posted 45 (this would be 46) times. More proof that I am NOT the biggest post whore! :icon_razz:  O0
It's because there's a lot of hate and bitterness in the world today magnified by the Zionist controlled Hollywood sect and News Media. Plus, some people are just sick and tired of putting up with other people's shi_t. :)
Yes. Lets blame PW hatred on the liberal media elite. Works for me
The issue of bandwidth is no longer al issue so that isn't the reason any longer.
I think the reason some people hate PWs is because, just like in real life, some people are more serious about things. A more serious person doesn't want to hear all the non-sense; they want to get on here, exchange motorcycle information, and get off. Sifting through PW's only slows them down, and their "important stuff" gets lost in the heap. Some people are just wound tighter than others.
Thats why if I see a discussion with a serious tone, I won't generally chirp in some crap. But if I see the thread has a more social vibe to it, then by all means, participating is what it is all about.
If we all use common courtesy and respect, to the best of our ability, we'll make the world - and the GStwin site a better place :) :thumb:
Or...
we can blame it on the media elite. Whatever works. :icon_mrgreen:
