Title: WA Snow Day: Sunday Feb 5th! (Superbowl Sunday)
Post by: RVertigo on January 24, 2006, 12:51:05 PM
The Seachickens won the whateverthehell and are going to the Superbowl...  Last time I went snowboarding on Superbowl Sunday, there was hardly anyone on the Mounting...  And that year had nothing to do with Seattle.

This year there will be NOBODY on the mountain...  We can own the whole place!!!

Details:

Sunday Feb 5th
Aim to arrive at Steven's Pass (http://www.stevenspass.com/snowreport/index.aspx) at noon (since rates drop at 12).

I may have room in my truck, but I'm not 100% on that yet...  Most likely, I'd only have two open seats, since one is already spoken for...  But, we'll see...

PM me, email me, or call me...  Let's go!!!

Yea, I won't be going. Along with having to work... I have $10 lift tickets for the next day.. Monday! Going to go 3-10pm monday. Man will that screw up my schdule.. but how could I pass up $10 tickets?
Title: Re: WA Snow Day: Sunday Feb 5th! (Superbowl Sunday)
Post by: RVertigo on January 31, 2006, 03:57:04 PM
Yeah...  I don't think I could pass up $10 either...

Well, the good news (for everyone that's not going) is that my 4WD stopped working...  Needs new hubs and I'm not going to bother replacing them (since parts and labor would be as much as the stupid SUV is worth).

So...  I gotta buy chains, just in case.     I hate chains, especially on a RWD truck.

Give it a good swift kick. That always does the trick. Well if by some small random chance it doesn't, That sucks. So do chains.

Once (back in the day) with the old explorer ('91) the 4wd wouldn't kick in when trying to go home. Was sliding around all the way down. It finally decided to work once we had left the snowed areas. That was fun..

Nah... The 4WD is toast...  I took the truck in and the mechanic said it was all eaten...  Oh well...  It's a Ford with 140,000 miles on it.  What do I expect?

Heh, You should expect MORE! The Explorer we had died at over 165k. Plus the 4wd still worked then. (well, worked when it wanted to.. which was actually most of the time)

Well, it's the last Ford I'll ever buy... I can tell you that.

I've actually been waiting for the final straw on the damn thing for a while now...  At least it still drives. :dunno_white:

Man I'm out since I'm a HUGE Seahawks fan and it's my brothers birthday. Needless to say I'll be over at his house cheering on the Hawks. I went to Hawaii a couple of weeks ago and since then it's been snowing a ton. I surfed in Hawaii and it was awesome. Now we have perfect Boarding conditions in WA. Have fun up there! I haven't been in a couple of weeks but am planning on going up in the next couple of weeks, and possibly up to Whistler for President's day weekend.

I'll try to have fun with the mountain all to myself...

I've been thinking a lot about Whistler, but it's pretty pricey...  I don't think I could convince my wife to let me get the 3 new speakers I need and the 1/4 fairing... And go to Whistler. :dunno_white:  Next year maybe...

America's National Passtime:  Not Football.

Football is so damn boring, if it as on TV and I couldn't change the channel, I'd be playing games on my phone just to stay awake.

If I want to see the good parts of the game, I can watch the news...  The entire 3+ hour game gets boiled down to a 10 second clip.

Snowboarding is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more fun that watching ANYTHING on TV...

If I REALLY wanted to watch the game, I'd set my DVR to record it and watch it in FFx2, then stop for the good parts...  (And watching a guy run isn't a good part.)  I only care if someone gets hit so hard that they spin multiple times in the air before hitting the ground and having their helmet fly off...  Other than that Football is REALLY boring.

Anyway...  Back to snowboarding.

I'll be watching the Superbowl just as I have every year since I was 8. I am a huge football fan, and no it's not boring. In fact this will be the last decent sporting event until March when we get the Tourney. After that it's the dullest part of the sporting season. Nothing good on except NFL Europe in the Summer and Golf (but golf isn't really that cool to watch). I guess football is boring if you never played and don't understand the game. However, if you just give the NFL one season you will be hooked.

As for the Colts, they need to fire their QB in order to make it to the Super Bowl. I know he has great stats during the season, but he won't get there. His game is too slow and methodical for the playoffs/Superbowl. Also he is a poor excuse for a leader. In his post game press conference after he single handedly lost the game to the Stealers by taking too many sacks and not properly identifying where the pressure was comming from, he said that his OLine had some protection problems. Now last time I checked, the reason why Peyton Manning sits up at the line for 40 of the 45 seconds on the play clock is to make no less then 1 million adjustments. This is why so many idiots think he's so great, because he's so smart. The #1 adjustment that all QB's should make at the line is identifying potential pressure and adjusting/audibling the protection scheme, the routes of the receivers, and lastly the play. Peyton should have said I had a terrible game and I HAD PROTECTION PROBLEMS. It's easy to be a leader when you throw 30 some TD's in a season, but what happens when you play like $HIT and get the crap kicked out of ya? A real leader puts that blame on their shoulders but that's not what P. Manning did.

Anyways, not like I'm bitter because the Hawks finnally made it to the playoffs and we will see a true leader and ultimate QB in Hasselback.

Peyton is fine.  The people they need to get rid of are Tarrik Glenn and Vanderjagt.  Glenn has an average of 2-3 false start penalties a game and they always come at the worst time ie. touchdown being called back.  Vanderjagt well he is just a liquored up kicker.... that WAS the kick they pay him to make.  I personally will include a bottle of Crown in his going away gift basket.

I've played touch football...  And I understand the game...  I gave the NFL 5 seasons...  You know, back when you could turn on a game and all you heard was, "Montana to Rice...  TOUCHDOWN!!"

Once the 49ers started sucking, I stopped caring who won...  And I always found the live (on TV) game to be rather boring.

But anyway...  This thread is about:

SNOWBOARDING!

The only sport I enjoy watching on TV is middle-weight boxing...  Other than that, the highlights are fine with me.

Well, the Winter X-Game Snowboarding is entertaining to me....  But, probably no one else.

Snowboarding... YAY!

I watched the Winter X Games, which is way more entertaining than the Winter Olympics.  Shaun White is awesome or whatever that fellows name is.  The dirtbikes/snowbikes jumping was awesome as was the snowmobile racing!!!!

Snowmobile racing is friggen sweeeeeeet!  I've only seen it once, but I was glued to the TV with my mouth agape. :o

Some of the half-pipe comps suck 'cause they have all these mandatory tricks...  So, everyone does the same five tricks before they try to bust out the cool one or two at the end...

Now, the Tony Hawk Huck-Jam was the shaZam!!  Those freestyling bastards are unbelievable...  I love the street-style on bikes too...  They do the craziest shaZam!.

Winter X games is pretty cool. I like the snowboarding competitions as well. Shaun White is pretty bad ass. I can't believe some of the crazy tricks those guy do in the pipe and on the slope style. The skiers in the pipe are pretty bad awesome as well. They seem to get more air and having the two skis to cross in mid air looks pretty cool. Kinda like skier-copter when they do spins. Anyways, I just wanted to get the thread back on track too snowboarding.
