Title: Urban Exploration - Part 3 - Massachusetts
Post by: annguyen1981 on January 25, 2006, 09:38:43 AM
On request, my friend sent this picture he took at the Northampton Looney Bin here in Massachusetts.

There are some great pics on his camera, but this one tops them all... :icon_twisted:

I've been by the Northampton one on a poker run..that place was really creepy. Soon as its warm enough to ride Im going down to the Harlem Valley asylum. They're converting it into housing like the others. Honestly, I would never wnat to live in an apartment that used to be an asylum. It was bad enough that our farm house has people buried in the basement. Anyway, Im tring to convince the guy that bought Harlem Valley to let me have a tour and what not for a "movie I'm making for Yale"...he's a Yale Alum.

In the same place, my friend took a picture of a spot on the ground that someone had spray painted, "Stay in Center".  The floor near the walls were so rotted, that the only stable area was the center...  Luckily the support beams were still good.

I just found the article on the net about how it's pretty common for these old asylums to be converted to condos

That is quite a creepy  photo :thumb: Was it arranged that way, or did your friend put the chair in the sunlight for effect? Either way, it looks awesome.

My friend didn't touch a thing...  He just snapped away.
