Title: Tail...
Post by: melloGS on January 30, 2006, 09:03:05 AM
i've been looking on here and seen some pictures of different tail sections...just wondering as to how many different ones are available...? and where to go to get one... I especially like the single seat ones.

Since you've got an '05 there aren't many options. Someone on here (dgyver, I believe) was making solo race tails for the 1st gen models, but never got to making a 2nd gen mold. You can always make something work if you've got the time and money, but in general it's kinda hard. I know some people fit Yamaha R6 tails to the old bikes, but the new models have different mounting points. If you have a tail just lying around then I'm sure you could get SOMETHING to work, but for easy replacements there aren't any out there that I know of.

I just bought a carbon race tail from dygver for my '89.  I'm so excited!

If you have an older GS, you should hit him up.  Otherwise, I've seen somebody on here fit a GSX-R tail as well.  Some fabrication required.

I think Titan makes one for their Kit.

The Titan and dgyver tail are all for the '89-'00 bikes though. I haven't seen the GSX-R one though. He's got an '05, so the Titan and dgyver tails are useless. :( I like the dgyver tail, too.

I'll be sure to post pics of my dygver tail once it is mounted.

Don't think so... That'd look cool though.

I know that JetSwing has a tail that I really like on his bike.  He has posted pics before, if i come across them i will link to them, but you could try searcing a bit.  There are some others in the forum that have installed new tails / undertail kits that look great.

JetSwing has an Aluzio Motors undertail kit. Basically he said it definitely wasn't worth the $200 or something it cost because nothing fit right and required cutting to get anything to fit decently.

That's the Aluzio Motors Undertail. It might look good, but there were ass loads of problems getting them to fit, according to both JetSwing and Fett.

i like the tail the way it is but god i wish they would stop putting that ugly license plate holder on the back...there should be a much nicer way to install the plate and the signal lights!

Not too bad. But for my own personal taste, i would have to make it all one color...
