I'm all signed up.  This is going to be so cool.  O0

I'm going to get a set of those SV650 bars, change out my fork oil to 15 weight, and maybe upgrade my tires before then. I just don't know if an upgrade will be felt or is necessary, but I guess better safe than sorry.

The shopping spree begins.

I just ordered some Pirelli Sport Demons in the stock sizes.
Next up are handlebars. I'm just still deciding between the SV650 bars or those Superbikes from Flanders.

Get a couple of sets of superbike bars. They're cheap, and if you crash you can replace the bars and get back out there. When i did my track day I could have probably gotten back out there with a set of bars and a ghetto rigged brake lever.

You might try getting some Bikemaster clubman bars. They'll lower the bars to a more clip-on type position and can be had at one of your local shops for $15 to $20 a set, probably. If they get bent up, at least it wasn't a huge loss!

Make sure you DO bring extra parts though, just in case. Brake levers, clutch levers, bars, footpegs if you have some lying around, nuts and bolts. Pablo can probably fill you in better. Bring a tool set in case you need to fix something on the fly. It's NOT fun having to sit out because your bike is busted up. Trust me.

leo/alpha-
dont bother with spare parts. most trackday organizers are instituting a policy where a crash takes you out the rest of the day (with few exceptions). The reasoning is that they are not professional mechanics and by letting you back out on the track they are taking responsibility for the trackworthyness (or safe ridability) of your ride post crash, a liability they are no longer willing to take. Check with the specific organizer to make sure but I know from personal experience that ti2tt.net, zoom-zoom, thetrackclub.com all have that policy.

Yes, I did Buttonwillow in reverse. BW in reverse was AWESOME. I actually think its BETTER in reverse. its just a little odd not having the candystriping where they should be at the turn exits. In reverse the track actually flows much better. it also gave me insight as to good lines to take in the usual direction. In reverse I was taking the kink at "Bus Stop" MUCh faster than the usual way, and t3/t4 was much smoother too. T2 , "Offramp" was a little hairy because you're braking hard while turning before you get to the really tight part, downhill. Are they running Star Mazda turn or the sweeper when they do it in reverse? if Star Mazda, watch out for the big dip coming out of the turn, just left of center track. I would hit that and the front would get all sloppy and squiggly. I started to slam my chest onto the tank as I hit the dip to keep the front down. This resulted in smooth riding but gave me a bruise from my inside pocket zipper. FUN nevertheless.

That's a bummer, Pablo (regarding the crashing taking you out for the day thing). RideSmart, one of the places that does track days here, hasn't instituted that yet. Oh well.

oh yeah i have noticed groups saying a crash takes you out for the day and I didn't fully understand why. I guess with it being my first day, and me not being a proficient bike mechanic it wouldn't be very wise to try to patch my bike and go out again anyway.

tks celica.
