Title: Angeles Crest, sat 2/4, 9am
Post by: pantablo on January 31, 2006, 12:36:18 AM
shell station at 9am. meet under the tree at shell station (north side, nearest freeway).

most likely ride up to newcombs (hang a bit), back down to upper big T, up angeles forest hwy to the tree and back. 100+ miles.

Oh, sounds like fun. How newbie friendly is that ride? I've heard a lot about ACH, but I don't know if I would be ready for it yet. I've had my bike for about a week and a half now, so I wouldn't want to slow anyone down if I came.

if you've only been riding a week and a half I'd skip this one for now. its very long and will tax you considerably. pace is always as fast or slow as you like ("everyone at their own pace") but if you're a total new rider it'll overwhelm you. Maybe in the fall....

Chased pantablo and some other guys over ACH today.  Really wasn't much of a chase.  The phrase "eat my dust" comes to mind.  Those dudes were fast.  I was just starting to really get my lean on, when one guy lowsided on a tight left.  I'm all back to being freaked-out and slow again.  Drat. :icon_rolleyes:

btw everyone, these are from saturday 2/11 ACH ride...mmm felt like summer.

Jen_,
Glad you made it out. so what if you're slower than some of us. Doesnt matter as long as you had a good time and rode your own ride. The guy on the silver F4i was on an unfamiliar road and shouldnt have gone into that turn so hot. It was clearly marked as a 20mph turn which should have been an indication of its tightness. Oh well, at least he was alright, no injuries.
