Does the GS500F fairing fit on the E model?
From our GS500 FAQ http://gstwin.variders.com/:
QuoteThe short answer is "no".
The fairing on a GS500F mounts to brackets which are bolted onto the frame. The holes these brackets mount to are not present in the earlier models. Also, the upper fairing, where the headlight is housed, is bolted to a tab which is welded onto the steering stem. However, if you've got the time and skill, it can be done.
One such example is GStwin member TarzanBoy's bike, which was converted from an '89 into an '04 doppelganger. However, there are some fitment issues and apparent gaps between the seat and tail cowling, as well as the seat and the frame.
On the 2001 through 2003 models, the task will be much easier, as the body work (minus the fairing) is the same. All that would be required is to drill holes in the correct places in the frame, as well as welding on a tab to the steering stem so that the upper fairing can be bolted into place.
With the 1989 through 2000 GSEs, the task is much more daunting. Not only do you have to do the things listed above, but if you want proper fitment between the fairing and the tank you will need to find a way to adapt the 01+ bodywork to the pre-01+ frame. There are different mounting points for the body work and tank, as well as seat latch differences.

They all look like they're sourced from the 1980s.
The Bol D'or had this Mulitstrada impetus.
Interesting. Shipping would be murder, I'd bet.
they all look like a can-o-tuna :icon_rolleyes:

Where did you think the GS500 came from :icon_mrgreen:
I like the bol d'or, especially considering thats pretty much how I use the GS - for anything and everything!
I'm posting this before thouroughly looking through those links, but I have a question that someone may have an answer for (providing I don't find any at those links). Does anyone have a source for race skins for the GS500?
where is a barf smilie when you need one!!! good lord those are UGLY!!!!
They are a no uglier than any other aftermarket fairings apart from the Brazilian(aluizio motors) one and a lot better looking than the huge touring screens people put on their naked GS. If I had the money to spend I would get one as they do the job and look better than the plain naked GS(fatten up the skiny frame at the front of the bike).
which one of these screens looks as decent as the fairings and do as good a job without buffeting?

The Colt fairing seems best styled with the lines of the GS. a bit like a Moto Guzzi

I like the viper one.. the daytona one just screams "EX500" at me.. must be the square headlight..
OK. A bit of messing around with Gimp and I managed to make these 2 photos of what the GS could look with the Colt and Cobra fairings:
