congrats!  i'd highly recommend an exhaust upgrade (not sure who has a good one for an '06) since the stock one is notoriously wimpy sounding and feeling.  of course, jet kit is a must  :thumb: another one you might find is the suspension upgrade, and i think the gsx-r 750 one would work really nice, and you can get it cheap online.  i think that's a good start, and at 600 bucks for these upgrades, they'll change your ride SIGNIFICANTLY.

a-train baby!

Not many aftermarket parts for the "f" model yet...  This includes the '04 & '05 years.

Welcome to the club!  :)

The bike is absolutely gorgeous.  Congratulations!

My advice.. don't mod the bike until you've had a few thousand miles under your belt (caveat two sentences later).  It's an awesome bike in stock form.  Not sure how big you are, but if you're any heavier than 140lbs, you may want to consider a progressive springs upgrade.  Make sure to check out Pantablo's site.. lot's of valuable information.

Good luck, and ride safe  :thumb:

yeah im around 175. What will the progressive spring upgrade do? what kind of a difference will it make compared to the stock? and where can i buy it? and whats that Pantablo site?

check out http://pantablo500.tripod.com/ for a ton of useful gs information.

I found that the front forks would dive pretty quickly, even while braking smoothly approaching a light, and especially over uneven pavement.  I had them bottom out on me twice during emergency braking (I'm about 145 lbs, so really not that heavy).  I swapped them for some progressive springs and used Pablo's site (mentioned above) for installation instructions.  It made a world of difference.   The front felt more planted and even under pretty hard braking it wouldn't bottom out.  It felt like an entirely different bike, much improved.

I'm not sure where the cheapest place is to pick them up, but I'm sure your local bike shop could order them in.  I think they'll run you about $60 give or take.  It's also a pretty easy first mod, and in my humble opinion a necessity with with GS.  The bike's front end feels like it's bouncing all over the place.

I just got a new 05 last week.  How far were your carbs off?
Mine had 1 mile and had practically every carburation and mixture error that is mentioned on the forum.
When I took it back to the dealer, the "chief" mechanic said that they were often off from the factory and they would take care of it at the 600 mile.
I asked if he was going to charge for the 600 even though it was completely a factory warranty issue and he said yes.
At this point is was a situation enroute to an incident and I took it up with the shop owner.
All of a sudden it became warranty.

All of the starting, stumbling, rambling idle, sticking idle problems went away.  One of the shop guys said that one carb had the idle mixture screw all the way in.
It also feels better in midrange, so I think they may have rejetted to keep me out of their hair a second time.

The mods may be much less important once you get it run in and trued up.
