Title: Best (and cheapest) insurance company????
Post by: hhgsm31 on February 05, 2006, 09:56:15 AM
Just wanted to know who everyone uses for their bike insurance. I'm going through GMAC from the rider.com site, and it is only like $11 a month for liability, wouldda only been like $35 for full on my 99.
I am 24 and married with clean record

so if you got a few tickets in your car prior to getting a bike...your insurance will be higher for the bike as well?

State Farm is good... 32 no tickets, one at fault accident, one not at fault accident.

GSXR1100 with 100/300/100 UMBI, UMPD, and comprehensive with $100 deductible... $29 a month

I might add that I'm an insurance agent for a living but I work for a different company... That should tell you something.

Actually, Even if you are the WORST driver on the road, as long as you have a policy on you car, you only have to pay extra premiums for one vehicle.  I'm not sure what the highest SDIP step is (around 25 I think), you will only pay regular insurance rates on your bike.  You cannot pay extra twice.

wtf! Why does progressive quote me at $8000/yr for full coverage then? I must live in the most dangerous area in the country.

I use Dairyland and pay $170/year for liability only. 19, MSF, no accidents (hahahahahahahahahahahaha), clean record. They're a pretty good company, but you have to call to get a quote.

Well, the GMAC quote didn't go through since I had only been at my job for 1.5 yrs they declined me(dunno). I was going through progressive and almost paid 220/yr when I got an online quote from bikeline for $72/yr. Told the lady at progressive to have a nice day and got the cheap one. Thanks a lot for the input, as I wouldn't have known to look at bikeline

Just make sure you at least get some uninsured motorist coverage with your liability.. My '04GS got totalled and I had $14,000 in medical bills after getting hit by an unisured  driver last September.
