I was in Europe for a few months last summer (2004) and I picked up an issue of Top Gear (the one with the Carrera GT and McLaren SLR)... anyway, it had an article about budget cars I read numerous times at various train stations throughout Europe.  I'm watching discovery this evening and lo and behold, there's the exact article but with video on TV.  It was great to watch, but I was suprised how exactly the show followed the magazine it was more or less verbatim.  Anyway, fun little anecdote... rock on Discovery.

Jeremy Clarkson is an @$$hole, but the brits eat it up, he's like the Howard Stern or Mancow of cars.  I think he's a toolbox, but the show/magazine is still quality.

Lots of british TV in canada. Top Gear is excellent programming once you get past Mr. Clarkson's asinine grandstanding about anything and everything.

His whining about motorcycles is ridiculous, especially considering he goes on and on about performance, engine noises, etc.

Brits eat it up ! not all of them I assure you,  :cookoo: he can come accross as a bit of a prat and a lot of people can't stand him but he does have something. He has done some not-directly-car-related programs as well dealing with our relationships with our continental friends and neighbors and did one championing the cause of Isambard Kingdom Brunnel in a "greatest of all time" thing that was very good.

If he did not exist we would have to invent him.

regardless of what people say, jeremy clarkson is my hero. I have been his fan since 1988 or so..
I got most of his books and all his videos..yes i am definately his #1fan, i do understand what he comes from, and so to me its not about car reviews, but the passion of what that he is trying to communicate.
