Just got the new bike and I need new tires before I do more than just put around town. Just wondering how hard it would be to do it myself, or if I should just choke it up and pay the stealership to do it? I want to get tires from parts411.com, but the bike shops around here charge 30-40 more to install if you don't buy the tires from them.
You can do it. You need some good tire irons and a balancerl
Takes a few changes to get your money back.
The cheapest way at the dealer is to take off the wheel and bring it in with the tire.
This is the balancer.

You need a set of Motion Pro Tire Irons part# 08-0049
A way to break the bead.
Napa auto parts stores sell RuGlyde rubber lubricant
There is a technique to doing it.
Not sure where you live but Cyclegear did mine for 12 bucks a peice and I found another local place that did em for 10 each, This was after I had bought a harborfreight tire changer and built my own balancer. If you really like doing them yourself then it is doable but kind of a POA until you get good at it.
If you have a local place do them you have to pull the wheels yourself and take them in. The dealership will give it to you the hard way for sure.
I had to do it myself once just to see. But I'm a little :cookoo:
