Well I plan on painting her.
I messed around in photoshop for a while...lemme know what you think.
Blue Theme (http://www.scottslair.com/Motorcycle/bluebikenew.jpg) <---Like this one the best so far
Red (http://www.scottslair.com/Motorcycle/redbike.jpg)
Green (http://www.scottslair.com/Motorcycle/greenbike.jpg)
Sorta Brownish (http://www.scottslair.com/Motorcycle/brownishbike.jpg)
Me getting carried away (http://www.scottslair.com/Motorcycle/bluegreenbike.jpg)
Messy yellow (http://www.scottslair.com/Motorcycle/yellowbike.jpg)
Sorry for the pic size...Girlfriend's digicam set up in high res...and I'm too lazy to resize :dunno_white:
not the green or brown, but the blue does look good. Maybe blue with a polished frame if you want to get real creative
good photoshop work too
Definatly blue but I think the wheels are over kill.
The blue is nice, but the rims add too much blue.
The red is better and more tastefully done.
Sorta Brownish makes me think it would look better in khaki.
I can see getting carried away, if the frame and all are plated zinc green chomate.
I'd go green before that yellow.
Good photochops, too.
Red --always red.
I would go with blue, my new to me gs is deep pearl blue and looks damn nice. I would also paint the wheels black and leave the headlight black too.
great job with photoshop. I'm in the process of tearing mine apart so that I can paint it. Is there any way you could send the set up you used in photoshop, so I can play with colors for a bit? emmajoe@mac.com.
Oh, and I liked the brown the best :thumb:
I kind of like the green. I don't think I have ever seen a green GS before. mabey use a different shade of green though
MR. 7 you have the same bike as me!!!! The blue is nice isnt it.
Blue is the way to go, and ditto on the photoshop compliments!! :thumb:
I like the blue, but not with blue wheels...
The Kawi Green is a little crazy, but I kinda like it...
Yellow is my fav... Always... The '04 F yellow is the winner.
Wow, you have teh mad fotoshop skillz!!!1!one Okay, I'll stop now. :)
I was thinking of doing the same thing, but my photoshop skills aren't up to the task. I was thinking a graphite or silver (like the '03 SV650 color) theme for mine.
I like the blue theme, but I agree that the rims shouldn't be painted, and I think the headlight housing should stay black.
The blue rims were the idea of someone who did it in paint, so it definitely didn't look the same as the rest of the bike. I agree though; having the blue rims is a little much. If they even were gonna get painted, it would more than likely be either a lighter silver, or white.
As far as photoshop setup; I just took the base picture of my bike, made a new layer, chose a color, scribbled a little, then changed the opacity of the layer until I got the shinyness I wanted. You see, I kinda cheated  The reason the yellow looks kinda funky is because my bike is black originally, and since yellow is a light color, I had to increase (or decrease...which ever makes it more solid) the opacity until it looked yellow, but to where I could still kinda see the reflection.
My avitar is actually the layers, minus the original picture.
So, overview: Original picture, ready for editing -> make new layer -> pick a cool color -> 'paint' a little bit -> change opacity until you get the right bit of good stuff shining through -> paint, erase where you went over the lines, paint, erase, paint, erase, etc -> Revel in your beautiful motorcycle -> Then the hard part of actually painting it :o
Any questions? 8)
I agree with you on the white rims for the blue. That could look really good. (Though I reserve the right to change this opinion if you photoshop it and it looks hideous.)
My bike was repainted by the previous owner. I've got some pics here (http://www-scf.usc.edu/~bertocci/bike/). He painted the frame black at the same time, and I think it gives it a sleek (and unique) look. I'm going to be ripping the red grips off soon, as they are too much for my taste. I would definitely look at painting the frame, maybe black. The red photoshop you did would probably look awesome with a black frame.
I really like the blue. The red is really clean, but the blue is better. White wheels on a blue bike. DEFINITELY.

Cool, thanks for the tutorial. One quick request. Could you post your original pic? I have a yellow bike, and that technique would probably yield weird results with the yellow (or other color) showing through. Well that, and I don't have a digital camera. :)

There ya go...the original pic of a freshly washed bike :)
I love the green!
I like the blue with blue wheels, too.
now that I see how you did it, I'm going to play with it. it shouldn't be too hard.
I'm curious though why no one seems to paint their swingarm to match the frame?
Green would be nice . . .need a different shade. . . Ford Electric green used on 99 model years. :thumb:
Cool pics. I'm partial to the Green one - maybe a bit darker though. The red is also very nice ... In the end though it's your choice, be sure to post some pics when you are done.
Cool, thanks. Now we need to find someone with a white bike. Google Image Search didn't come up with anything promising.... :(

I have found that I totally love the mustard color that Triumph is using on the new Speed triples and 675's. Otherwise, I'd go with that blue....
Where's the option for purple?
:icon_mrgreen:
I like the blue and the red. I agree with others that black rims would go well with the blue. :thumb:
And I thought one of our members had a white GS? Ghost? Darnit....I can't 'member....

Didn't Cernunos have a white '89? And there was a girl here that had one too...
I'm finishing up on my wife's bike.
We're painting it Ducati Yellow..... Meow!
I'll post pics when it's all together - hopefully this Saturday.

Yes, Cernunos had a white '89 and jen has one too. I think it is jen anyway. The real pretty girl that laid her GS over in her first track day. Does that sound right?

I don't think it was a track day so much as a cone course, if I remember correctly...
I know I laid my GS over my first track day...
SHOCKER!!! :flipoff:
Edit: yeah, I remember seeing some cones.
I liked the red but I would also paint the headlight housing red while keeping the wheels anthracite or whatever. Excellent job on the photoshop. One thing to remember, whatever color you go with, yellow GReddy, APEXi, NOS, etc. stickers will make it look so much better... :icon_rolleyes:
Whats wrong with the black? I wish I had a black bike...I might paint my yellow '99 black one day.
