I'm looking for some good commuting type boots that still offer decent protection...
What is everyone wearing on their feet when they ride their GS?
I'm going to go check out some alpinestars boots today at the store as their products seem to be rather good overall.
Sidi Vertebre II
Dr Martins :thumb:
Doc Martins, also. I know. I know.
They are better than those flip flops that Alphafire wears.
right now my new balance, or my dress shoes, depending if i'm going to work or nt. wearing a suit everyday sucks
Alpinestars webgortex something-or-others... :)

I like my flip flops. They've got a leather sole and the UT logo on them. Yay!
I'm strapped in with Sidi Strada Evo Tepor boots.
I have the icon superduty boots and really like them. Good stiff toe, decent ankle protection and you can wear them around with your everyday clothes and not look out of place with them on.
I wear alpinestars smx. They are comfortable and offer good protection and are fairly waterproof.
I wear Sidi Vertebra II boots. Everywhere (well, when I take the bike :icon_mrgreen:).

I crashed in my Icon superduty's and they held up great... i think my ankle would have been broken without them. I had to replace the laces and they are still going strong :thumb:
Icon motorhead boots...great boots :thumb: very sturdy

Sandles for me!!
Just kidding... But I might as well be. I purchased some hiking boots (not too bulky) for riding. I also wear sneakers a lot
Sidi's.
I have the Rose and Vertebra II's. I haven't riden in the Vertebras yet but they are pretty comfortable and I feel better about the protection. I heard Daytona's are pretty nice.
Alpinestars Web Gortex.
Great boot. no break in, feel like shoes.
Good waterproofing.
Have them for 2 1/2 years and over 20,000 miles.
Caterpillar work boots.
Georgia steel toed loggers. O0
Sidi Vertebrae in Chrome. Gotta go with the bling, man!!! I love them, comfy, protective and chrome...
I wear Magnum Stealth EMS boots:
http://www.magnumboots.com/htmlproducts.php?pnum=20&id=M&imageid=m20&family=24
I'd like to get some Sidi or other motorcycle-specific boots, but I wear a 13B and not many brands come in widths, especially narrow ones, so I'm hesitant to order online. Few if any dealers carry boots in my size.
Oxtar TCS. They do kinda' look funny with street clothes though.... :)
Steel Toe Docs, great for biking and in the mosh pit!!!

the one good thing about GStwin forums is that unfortunately a lot of people are able to truely vouch for a gear's crash performance. :o
I think i'll go with the alpinestars touring series boots, i went and looked at them today, nice boots. Kind of expensive, but oh well.
Noooooooooo, go with the Joe Rocket Orbit boot. I like them a lot... sturdy. Look good with jeans. And only $80

Honestly, I really like how my Sidis look with jeans. They're pretty comfy too. If they fit your foot right, and the price is right then go for it. Make sure that whatever you get fits you well, though!
if it where me i'd get theses http://www.newenough.com/alpinestars_gps3_boots_page_.htm or even the smx3 . i'm the kinda person that likes the boot to go up past my ankel . i'm riding in my motocross boots ( go about . 3 inc. from the bottom of my knee) there a little stiff and made for standing up most the time but i feel the most protected in them :)
czd
I've got the Setup Gran Prix boots. Pretty comfy, good for walking around in, and decent protection. Crashed em at 15 and 45 mph and they're still goin strong.
Oxtar Jupiter and they run pretty wide for those with that problem.
I wear... skateboarding shoes.... :dunno_white:
just bought a pair of Sidi Vertigo Tepor Boots today...cant wait to get them in.

Wow... those Sidi boots are really really expensive. Heck... a pair of Sidi boots cost more than my entire 2-piece leather suit!
Is there any place that sells Sidi boots cheap? I doubt it... but worth a shot. Right now I wear a pair of Stanley work boots. Not really all that comfortable but they have lots of padding protection.

Check eBay, but the Sidis are easily worth their price. I got mine for ~$200, and you can get the Strada Evos on eBay for $150 or so, probably. They have comfort and protection.
Vertebra 2's.
They were on sale over on Newenough for $180 or so a while ago. Trying to make room for the new style. Might take a look.
I think they're worth it. They're very comfortable, well made, and convey a lot of feel from the footpegs. Part of what swayed my decision were the good reviews from numerous crash testers.
The Sidi Squeak is good for attracting girls too! :thumb:
Alpinestar Web Gortex boots for me too, bought them from a guy off ebay (best purchase on there so far) for about 90 bucks shipped! Great boots I love 'em! Also, if you like to keep your leather "shiny" buy Leather Lube by "Sof Sole" it works GREAT!

Nah, I've got Strada Tepor Evos. I bought them new from a shop; bought them at retail price. Well worth it though.
Bates 8" ultralight side zips.
Lace up snug. Zipper makes it easy to jump into and easy to keep laces tucked in.
Good all day wear. Available at uniform and sporting good stores.
I haven't a clue what my moto boots are....I'll have to remember to look...
What I really need are platform boots. Being vertically challenged sucks....

Both times at the track....once on a RS125 and the other on the 555 I sold. If ya aint crashin', ya aint ridin' hard enough.
I got a pair of Blue Joe Rocket Speedmasters. They have perforated leather lining inside so ur feet dont get too sweaty and are fairly waterproof...I love em there quite comfortable too.
Got a wicked Deal cost me about $155us!!!

damnit, now I wanna go buy some new boots
Right now I've got some cheap Teknic boots, they were 40 or 50 bucks at newenough 2 years ago. Held up well enough, but they are noticeably cheap.
I bought Teknic Stinger Waterproof boots because they were cheap. The leather wore away in a couple of months, and even with mild rain they got pretty soaked.
I then bought some Sidi Strada Evo Tepor's ($220 at NewEnough (http://www.newenough.com/sidi_strada_tepor_evo_boots_page.htm")), and they're simply incredible. However! If you've got an extra wide foot I think they'll be too snug, especially if you plan to walk in them.
I ordered a pair of AStars S-MX plus and Sidi Vertigo the non Corsa model and after trying both of them on at the same time I went with the Astars mainly because of fit. I think the fit is slightly wider on the Astars. But they were more comfortable, but they will take longer to put on because of the inner boot liner. They also seemed a little noisier. But I realy like how they felt and they held up my long pants better.
Tour Master Solution boots
http://www.newenough.com/tour_master_solution_wp_boots_page.htm
My local bike shop didn't have a great selection, so this is what I ended up with (I even bought the display model). Primarily I wanted something with a flat sole so my foot could slide forward and back on the footpegs without getting hung up. I looked for airman boots at an Army surplus store but came up empty (they tend to have a smooth sole).
I haven't been down so I don't know how they'd hold up, but I'm happy with them. They don't look too bad with jeans.
David.
I wear SIDI champion tepor boots.
they look like this, but shorter and one less strap:
I couldnt find a picture of it which makes me think its not available any longer.
If I had to guess, I'd say this boot replaces the one I have since its so similar (except mine has the straps like above.
Good boot for under $200. I'm still wearing mine 3+ years later.
Right now I am wearing East German military boots. I found them at Bud's, Wal-Marts closeout stores, years ago. Best boots I ever owned. I bought the wool p-coat also, but never wear it.
