Well it was nice out today so I decided to hack off the fender on my new 99. I had already bought flush mount blinkers for the side and once I had the rear apart, decided to go ahead and get rid of the big floppy ears (rear signals).
Just took the fender off above where the blinkers mount and then had to drill 3 small holes in each rear panel to mount the new ones and get the wiring through. They were 3 point lights(1 off, 1 running, and 1 flash) so I decided to wire the unning and flash together to make them brighter. Sorry no pics with them on and I appoligize for the glare in the pics, sun was trying to set.
total cost $20 and about 2.5 hrs (with a trip to wally world in there)

Looks a LOT cleaner back there... I know they're not the safest thing, but some smoked lenses would look SICK!!!
Those flush-mounts look like they'll actually give you MORE visability then the stockies... You can see a lot more of the light from the side.
Envy -> :icon_mrgreen:
Now get a new rear tire... NOW!
i know, just got her a week n a half ago and rode once around town. That spot is by far the worst, but i know it negates the tread on the rest of the tire. I went with the clear ones for visibility (and they looked better than the amber ones the shop had).
Those are the same ones I have in the front. :thumb:
I also have the 3-wire set, but I didn't use the running lights at all. I'm gonna wire that in with the blinker for for light. THankz for the idea! :thumb:
:cheers:
Looks great. :cheers:
Where did you get them and how much were they?
And ASAP on the rear tire!!
I also want to know =)
You should be able to find carbon fiber flushies at most well-stocked bike shops. A set like those would probably run you between $22-$32 for a pair.
I agree that the stocker signals on the pre-'01s are a little much...

... but I'm not really a flush mount kinda guy. I got me a set of '04 stock signals from a board member over a year ago, and one of these days I just might get around to putting them on. :icon_rolleyes: (Ignore the marker light at the top of this next photo - they're going away too.)
