Title: new addition?
Post by: makenzie71 on February 24, 2006, 03:36:41 AM
So I'm going to work Thursday afternoon and about 6 miles from the house I pass a dog...a malemute.  Pretty young and malnourished...he's less than a year old and he likely weighs about 50lbs from looking at him.  He wouldn't come to me, though, so I left him to wander the roads...it was a back-road and a few houses around there so I assumed he belonged to one of those folks (even though I know them all and never seen this dog before).  I continue on my way.

I get home from work this morning (330am Friday) and my dog is going nuts.  He stays on my porch while I'm at work and he's usually pretty quiet...he's not a very vocal dog at all...but now he's yipping and whining at the door.  I let him out and he books it toward the back of the house to...the same malemute.

I tried for quite a while to get him to come to me but didn't succeed.  Eventually I just told Makenzie (my dog) to get back on the porch and the mute followed.  haha...trapped...I just closed the door lol.  This dog is very expressive..."aw crap" was written on him like a bilboard lol.  But he let me pet him then and I gave him some water...he's actually very nice, just preoccupied with Mak.  Assied being obviously underfed and slightly malnoursihed, he's rather healthy.  His coat is full...of knots, lol...but still healthy.  His tail is the size of the rest of his body.

Anyway, right now, I've got them both on the porch chilling...for the most part.  The mute's bugging Mak a little now and then and he snaps at him.  I'm thinking about hanging onto the new guy but there's a problem with that...I got court first thing in the AM and then I'm going to lubbock for the weekend.  I'm trying to think of a friend or someone with a fence to hang onto him til Monday.

I'll snap a pic of him in a bit...

Sure.  Take him in if it has no tags and loks malnourished.  Take pics in case some owner comes along als says you tok him.  Just say you'll gladly give it back after you forward pics to the ASPCA of how it was abused before you took it in :thumb:

Very handsome pup!

He's going to want one hell of an air conditioner come summer.   Either that or a shave job.

yeah he is a handsome addition.  Just get him checked out at a vet if you havn't already.  Wouldn't want him to give anything to the currently healthy pup, like worms.  Good luck and hopefully he doesn't eat a couch.

He's a husky right? When I was a kid I always wanted a husky. Beautiful dogs, look just like wolves. I hear if you have hot summers, it can be really hard on them, but they absolutely love snow and will live outside in the winter if you let them. I've also hear that the males can be really head strong and almost impossible to train. Oh and they shed ALOT. But I guess you would have figured that one out already. He's a beautiful dog, if he gets along with your other dog you should hold onto him, you'll probably be the first person who's ever taken care of him.

ummm..wow this is starting to get stupid...

On topic...sadly, I wasn't prepared for him when he decided to grace em with his presence, so he had to camp out on the porch with Makenzie (the current dog) while I was out for the weekend.  I had mom come out and tend the critters while I was away and she couldn't get the new pup to go back up with Mak...so she left him out and he apparently got bored and bailed.

Oh well...maybe his owner wised up and went and found him and will keep him better now...or chain him up...:(
