Been a bad couple of weeks for motorcyclists around here.
One was killed at the intersection of two highways when a tractor trailer failed to yield to a motorcycle at a spot where the road forked. I guess it's a confusing intersection, because when I read where it happened, I wasn't even sure who was supposed to have had the right of way there. The cop at the scene told a reporter that the motorcyclist was supposed to yield, but the next day I read that the truck driver had been charged for failing to yield to the motorcycle. Hopefully they'll put up a sign clarifying who has to yield.
The next week, another man was killed when he lost control of his bike in a curve, ran off the road, and hit a tree. The first person who passed by after the accident happened to be an off-duty EMT, but it didn't matter. He was already gone. He was only wearing a novelty helmet and had massive head trauma. He'd only been riding for two weeks.
Sigh. Be careful out there everyone!
Riding for two weeks, wearing a TOY helmet? :cookoo: Guess he wasn't "man enough" to wear a REAL helmet; more's the pity... Oh, well, looks like Darwin was right... AGAIN... too late to educate him now... :nono:
My condolences to the families...
My guess is the new rider never took the MSF course.
Just goes to show that right-of-way doesn't mean shaZam! when you're dead.
