Title: Flanges and wiley co - available again
Post by: The Buddha on March 01, 2006, 03:40:09 PM
Flange is $40 and shipping made by yours truly ...
Wileyco is here - Ebay again but new seller.
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&fkr=1&from=R8&satitle=wileyco&category0=

I would suggest we pool our numbers and work in a group buy. Offer them less for each type and close the deal.

Tell me count for flanges immediately (in 1-2 days) and I'll make the end plates. Once that is done we wont be able to make any more. So order up. Now anyone who had a flange from before and its leaking or something let me know, and I'll swap it out. No not leaking cos you cut a hole in it. Anyway - order up.
Cool.
Srinath.

Ok who is gonna strike a better deal with the guy on ebay? I think like $90 shipped if we give hime like 5-10 orders... I dont know if he will work a deal though. But if someone wants to try ill pay $90 for one.

I could get that aspect rolling. Now it will be sorta mention Gstwin and you get this price ... I'd say 100 for Titanium and carbon and $75 for stainless ??? what ya think. I suck at negotiating though, so may be someone else should. See he has said best offer, so your options are to offer less dont ya think.
Cool.

Yea yea yea ... comming. The way I look at it, this is a smaller ticket item. I hope to make these for people since the cans are there now, and I cannot make 1-2, a good 20 to be feasible really, so I'll get these started. The case guards will follow hopefully. Again I'd need numbers. Hopefully a good 60+ for those since bolts are boxes of 100's only, I have some 40 or so, will need closer to 70 really, the damn bolts cost me $700+ just the bolts.
Cool.

what do these famous flanges look like?
they'll work with the F models right?
can you give a quick blurb as to what is required to go from stock to a flange + bolt on?

F yes, and they will look like a pipe and a plate welded up.
Blurb about fitting it ... OK cut the header and these slide on. When you get it you'll see - it will literally fit itself ...

The 3 bolt cans all look like they will work. Any wileyco with 3 bolts is sure to work. Some have even slapped on D&D's or other 3 bolters. Just send me $$ and no need for any can BS. I just bought a can to do this on. Now they will fit all GS years 89-06. I can choke them if any one wanted to not rejet, and remove the choker when you rejet. I dont have the time to post the old stuff all again. Someone please put a link up. I am going to order 20 plates. Assuming I lose 3-4 (hope no more) we will have 16. Should be plenty I hope. OK so watch this space, typically you just need a saw blade (hack saw blade, jig saw, pipe cutter, chop saw, laser cutter, any of the above will work, ... ) and maybe muffler tape and maybe muffler clamp.
Now GSXR 600-750 what years ??? ... man I have no idea, but 96-99 750 cans will work.
Cool.

$40 and shipping ... dont short change me on the shipping ...  :o ... Flange.
Now someone should take point on the exhausts and work out with that dude and finnagle the cans form them for a good $$$ ... If I remember it was $60 including shipping for cans from DK scratch and dent ... This clown wants 2 X - He prolly bought it from DK last year. OK maybe not, cos those were definitely scratched and/or dented. Anyway, no sense buying in number if you cant influence the price.
Cool.

Yea pipe and plate = flange.
I send it un painted, and you paint your exhaust and this at the same time. The whole thing is clamped to the foot peg carrier, wont go anywhere. Just extra security you can use a muffler clamp on the slip fit area. You can in a pinch fit the thing with it still on the bike. Someone cut it and fitted it while it was still on it. Especially useful in the F's case cos the fairing is in the way.
Wileyco Logo's are easy to yank off the can, in fact they prolly fall off before it gets to your house. However the Srinath Logo is welded into the flange and it has a hologram and it lets out a neon green glow and yells "Srinath" as you run down the road. Then it walks - no struts - down to the bar and bad mouths you to the chicks.
Cool.

Doesn't appeal to me with my little '02. Might see if I can find a spare stock exhaust from a breaker. So far, everything I've done or conteplated is reversible, and it would reduce downtime..

Finally, a worthy adversary!  Hey, what can I say... some of us just don't need brand name help to establish our identities. As my uncle used to say, "a gentleman does not allow himself to be used as a billboard".

Ok, I'm in for one. I'll pm you for the exact amount (little fuzzy on shipping) if you want payment now.

It is pretty reversible if you did it right. Use a slipper and put the old pipe back on. Slipper not included ...  ...

For everybody that has been wanting an new exhaust for their GS's getting this flange and a wileyco is the cheapest and easiest way togo.  Total install time for me was less than 30 min.  very easy.
Just remove stock exhaust cut pipe slide on flange bolt on wileyco and your done.  Think about where else are you going to be able to get an exhaust for about $150?  And if you want more perfomance add the K & N lunchbox filter and a rejet.
If you want to know more about luchbox filters search lunchbox
If you want to know more about rejeting search rejetting

What ... no wiley co attached - wiley co not included ...  Ebay for it. Once again someone take point and group buy and get the numbers on our side and work the $$ with the selling store.
Flang may work with Kerker - if it is that 3 bolt, 8 mm bolts, 80 mm between bolt centers then its a slam dunk. Like Blue said. Thanks blue. You guys might as well direct all you'r questions to other people who have done it before, I have done like a 100 of these, I would never think anything was hard. Much like I jet these carbs in my sleep, but people screw it up all the time. OK maybe it is hard, or atleast harder than it seems to me.
Cool.

Count me in for one with a choker Srinath. How hard is it to remove when I finally get around to rejetting? Also, just to make sure, any of the cans listed in the ebay link so far will work with your flange? Thanks.
Title: Re: Flanges and wiley co - available again
Post by: blue05twin on March 06, 2006, 12:47:04 PM
It's easy to remove the choke in the flange just use a hammer and bang it back and forth until it comes out.  I have not heard of a 3 bolt wileyco can that would not fit the flange.  You can always ask the seller how far apart the center of the bolt holes are and if the match what Sinrath said then your good togo.

BTW if people are going to get the wileyco's you should ask the seller about a group buy can probally get them a bit cheaper.

Man... I straight up welded mine on there!     Chances are you'll be keeping the bike for the rest of it's life. If not, the next owner will probably appreciate it.

If you smash the can in a wreck (ok we are assuming the bike survives) then we are stuck with a 3 bolter, OK grind off the weld gently and yank the hting outta there OK fine. I prefer muffler clamp ugly as it looks, or hose clamp.
Cool.

Well, it was smashed in a wreck... along with the swingarm, frame, tail, and pretty much everything else. The dealer just threw in the towel and stopped writing the estimate when it got to $4500 and they couldn't locate the source of all the aftermarket parts.

Just in case anyone is wondering the wileyco has good bang for the buck factor and the flange/muffler is a pretty good deal..  Jump on it while srinath is making flanges!

i am very intrested in buying a flange i want to do my ehuast before i put the bike on the road.

so this how it works?

buy your flange and a wileyco can cut your stock put  the flange and muffler and weld it on? i just wondering if i have to paint the pipe? and if so what do i use to paint it? can this be done easily if i bought it to a shop in my local area and before they put it on they will give it to me so i can paint it?

Let me no i would def go down on buying one from you.

its designed as a slip fit. Basically, once you cut your header you slip the pipe over the header, use the hanger, and your good to go. For good measure, you can tack it up O0

I've heard the opposite sentiments more than once, and here- people would rather inherit stock, un-messed-with bikes, than bikes even with the mods they'd do themselves. With a modded bike, you never know the quality of wrenching that's gone before. I felt that way myself when I was buying.

Quote

I too heard the opposite comment, till someone decided to take me up on the offer to ride the bike with stock pipes. Wouldn't you know it, I had one sitting right under my thumb ... they rode it. And they came back and paid me the money and took the loud bike away. Trust me if someone says it not good that its loud, they should try out the alternative. Of course it would halp if the pipe cost ya $100 or so instead of $500 - 1000 that many sport bikes have ...

Wondering if you have any of the two welds lieing around?  It has been a bad two months for handle bars and i really don't want to break the bank again for another set.

Nope ... heck some SV guys showed up and bought a couple of defective ones ... Like I cant make any bad ones ... OK they were OK just a bit short for my liking. They didn't care ...
But I'll get these done and do 2 welds, and 4 too in fact.
Just need to get these flanges cranked out and should be good, I know the bars ... usually that aspect goes down smooth.

Hey guys,

I just sent a message to the seller of the Wileyco exhaust cans saying that 10-15 people are interested in buying exhaust cans from him and were wondering if we placed one large order of 10-15 mufflers, if we could get a high volume discount. Hope to hear from him soon, and as soon as I do, I will let you guys know what he says.

Okay, here is what the guy said:

"Hi Josh, What Suzuki exhausts were you looking into purchasing? I don't have that many left except for the GSX 1200 and 1100's. However, I would be willing to consider a volume discount. Thank you."

If you all are interesed still, just post what particular model exhaust you were looking at buying from this guy so I can give him a rough estimate and he can consider the volume discount, that is if you all are still interested.

This may sound stupid, but Does the displacement make a difference? like for a 1200cc or a 1100cc GSX compared to our 500cc baby GS?

Will one or the other make better/worse performance, or should I try to get one for a bike closer to the GS's engine size, like a 600?

thanks

We dont actually care what bike its for, they all are nearly identical ... OK I have only seen like for 3 models of bikes and they all are same ... 8mm bolts and 80 mm between centers, 3 bolt ...
My numbers are comming in still, hope to have the 20 I need to cut them. I am waiting for the cutting at this time, expect it in under a week.

I'm still in on this, did we ever get a total for the flange after shipping? Also will be in on the can, so let me know what the seller says about that.

Here is a list of everyone who posted throughout this thread that they wanted in on the deal (if you didn't post what material i.e. carbon, titanium, stainless, I just assumed stainless):

fibes7 - 1 carbon can

nick_villan - 1 stainless can

nmred - 1 stainless can

snap - 1 stainless can

qjt18 - 1 stainless can

crezydave - 1 stainless can

melloGS - 1 stainless can

Wrecent_Wryder - 1 stainless can

This is the list so far. If you want a different can material, let me know, because the seller on eBay wants to know what can and what materials.

I am not sure, srinath could prolly answer that one. If not, it is not too difficult to make a custom bracket for your exhaust. If you have a dremel or similar tool (God's gift to mankind) you can just make a quick trip to your local hardware and have a piece of thinner mild steel cut. Then you can take it home, shape it to fit, paint it whatever color you want, and drill your mounting holes in it. Really not that difficult if you know your way around the shop.

:laugh:Wrecent;old buddy, old pal. You are making this WAY more difficult than it is. The bracket that comes with the pipe is perfect. You MIGHT have to run a few washers behind the bracket so that your exhaust doenst touch your banjo nut on the rear brake caliper. Cut your stock pipe, slip on the flange, attach the wileyco and hanger and you are done. Now have a beer and stop stressing

Well, I heard from the eBay seller. This is what he had to say.

"Thanks for the offer however I am going to wait a bit before I provide any volume discounts. My exhaust have been selling too well."

So I guess that he has no problem moving his cans with high volume. Sorry guys, I tried.

Ok so for those of us that was counting on the group buy and too dumb to figure out which one to buy, can someone just say "hey buy this one, it'll work on your bike" so we can make sure it works? (hopefully im not the only one who would like to be told which one to get lol)

"i believe all the wileycos have the same 3 bolt pattern, 80mm bolt center to bolt center.  I think that any should work with the srinath flange." -----toobrie

Apparently the cans are universal, it is the flange bends that are differnet for the differnet shapes/ fairings of the bikes. So if you get the srinath flange, it should bolt right up to the Wileyco without any problems. Hope this helps to clear anything up.

OK I have personally done GSXR 750 96-99, GSXR 1100 93 - 98, CBR 900RR 95 - 99 and they all have worked. I am sure someone on here (dont remember who) got ZX7 95-99 or so and it worked. I am going to say all of them will work ... If not let me know, I'll make a few blanks and we'll punch it to fit ... just for you ... how is that.
Now someone get off your ass and make a group buy. I got my own problems to deal with.

Hey guys,
I made the seller a $75 offer for the $100 'SUZUKI GSX 1200 WILEYCO STAINLESS EXHAUST, NEW!' http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4588012038&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ABOCOR%3AMOT%3A1&rd=1

and this is what the seller told me : "Hello, I am only accepting 85.00 or more for the GSX 1200's. Thank you."

so now you know

Then ask him what he'd take $75 for, and what he'd take $80 etc ... or offer on somehting and see.
BTW The 1100 GSXR's 2 cans ... one each will work, that is the first item I bought, and sold it to Cheesy who later sold the bike to Tarzan Boy.

i purchased one of the D&D off ebay and have been trying to figure out a way for a gasket.  I was looking through one of my auto parts catalogs and noticed that mr. gasket sell a flat uncut sheet of exhaust gasket material.  I was thinking of getting a sheet and making a stencil off the bottom of the muffler and cutting it to size.  It comes in sheets of 10x10 or 6x24.  I think that this should create a really good seal between the bolt-on muffler and the flange.

A noob question here.
I currently have K&N filter (drop in) with rubber restrictor and not rejetted. I was told that if I get the srinath flange with the choker, I don't have to rejet. Is that true? because I have no idea how to rejet and I rather not touch the carb if I don't have to. I just want the wileyco for louder sound but if not rejetting will screw up the performance of the bike, I'd rather keep it the way it is. Any help? thoughts please?
Title: Re: Flanges and wiley co - available again
Post by: joedude on April 05, 2006, 12:27:07 AM
Well if you aren't looking for performance, then ya sure, you can get the flange with choker and slap on a Wileyco on there and it'll sound just cherry!  :thumb:

But with a K&N already on there and if you're going to bother to pay for a Wileyco,  you may as well go the extra little bit and do a rejet to avoid loosing performance....

but if you are satisfied with the current output of your GS, then a choker with a Wileyco should keep it close to where it is now.

OK Lemme answer them all ...
Snap - $50 will cover it. How long ... no clue ... as with all the rest of the things I have made ... it will get done, just no idea when. Its essential if I dont want to blow the costs to work with people on their terms. Laser guys have a 1000 piece minimum. he squeezes in my 20 via back door and drops it in the gaps between bigger bits he's cutting, muffler shops too use slack time to make my 20. A muffler shop makes most of their $$$ slapping 6K spinners and 2K stainless headers on Bling bling Navigators ... like WTF ... My 20 bits of pipe dont bring in the big $$ no matter what I pay them ...
My welders life revolves around his new baby and 5 year old daughter. I use his shop till I am ready to bring him in to weld ... big privilege and I need to work with him on that. just dont take my time commitments too seriously and its going to get done and sent to you ... heck I even send it free sometimes, after not cashing a bunch of checks from last year ...  :o ... OK No promises ... but has happened in rare cases.
Now y'all dont run around ordering "free" flanges ...

Samkhang - K&N and didn't rejet ... bad enough, why make it worse with pipe ... I'll drop a choker in it, you may want to like make a bigger choker (heck I'll put on in there that's super sized ... but I'd rather be the one to tell ya ... rejet - almost neccesary on a stock bike.

LimaXray - Rejet it when you can. I'll choke the flange and it wont be terrible, but stock bike needs a rejet.

Bbanjo - and others - paypal is seshadri_srinath@hotmail.com. But please wait till I get from laser shop and then send it in. I'll put a pic up. $50 will cover the 50 states. canada - yea need more $$$ freaking $$$ to send there.

Joedude - It usually exits a 2-4 inches below the t/s. It starts out a bit below where the stock muffler starts. Then just use your imagination. Someone posted a pic before ... dont know who and where it is.
Cool.
Srinath.

Thanks for the answers guys. I just ordered SUZUKI GSX 1200 WILEYCO STAINLESS  from the guy on ebay for $85+15 for shipping. Thanks to joedude for the effort on getting the deal for $85.

Now, one last question, I am  getting the flange with the choker for now so that I don't have to rejet yet but if I decided to do it later, do I have to remove the choker (is it removable)? or is it something that I can leave it there but remove the restictor from K&N filter instead? What alteration do I need to do if I want to rejet in the future?

I don't have one....yet. But from what I hear when you are ready to rejet you can bust hammer out the choker.

Hello, no the stainless steels are a 4 bolt pattern. The carbon exhaust has a 3 bolt pattern. Thank you.

This is what the seller said after I asked if he could verify that it was a 3 bolt pattern.  Why would stainless be 4 bolt while carbon is 3?

okay, updates on the issues of the guys sending me the four bolt vs. three bolt can.
This is what he wrote me :
"Hello, I found out what the difference is. The carbons are for the GSX 1200F. The stainless steels are for just the 1200's. Please provide an address where we can schedule a UPS pickup. Once confirmed we can ship out the carbon. Thank you"
I also phoned him and he said it was his fault that there was a typeO. He was real nice over the phone and is willing to exchange it for the right one.
bbanjo, if you get the wrong one, just write him back or phone him. He will take care of ya.

Got my Wileyco Stainless Steel ZX7R can in the mail today! and she's a beauty :icon_razz:
and I'm happy to say that it has the 3 bolt pattern, and measured from bolt to bolt... is 80mm. But for some reason, mine didn't come with a flange  :dunno_white:. I know that I don't need one since it already comes welded to Srinath's pipe... but I paid for the whole kit  :bs:

I also don't think that Wileyco sticker will be adhering to the can for very long... it seems poorly glued and almost half way off... but oh well, I'm sure I can find some high heat adhesive somehwere to more permanently stick it on there.

Any updates on those Flanges Srinath?

Unless you ordered the pipe AND flange from srinath, then it came with what it was suppose to come with: Pipe, hat, hanger, bolts, cheesy gasket, possibly hat,t shirt, and pin.
You'll have to wait until he sends out the flanges, big guy.

Ha ha, I just got mine today too. The guy on ebay finally sent me the right one (carbon with 3 bolt pattern and flange). I wish I could have kept the stainless steel one but the four bolt pattern just wouldn't work for srinath's flange. The carbon one kinda looks cool too anyway.

Since you already have flanges, why dont you guys try using what you have.  Are the flanges that you have no long enough or too short or what?
Title: Re: Flanges and wiley co - available again
Post by: joedude on April 25, 2006, 10:50:25 PM
ya that's what I was saying, the wileyco package is SUPPOSED to contain a flange. It's no big deal that mine (or yours) didn't contain one, but when you're paying for a 'brand new unopened box' you kinda want all contents.

The big difference I guess is that Srinath's flange comes with a length of pipe welded to it that just slides over and clamps to the existing exhaust pipe. Whereas the Flange that comes with the Wileyco exhaust is just the flange alone and obligates you to use the whole lenght of your stock exhaust.

The flange has to be somehow attached to the exhaust pipe coming out of the exhaust header... it's not about it being long or short... it has no real lenght... it is just a flange... kinda like a washer with holes I guess.

What Srinath makes is a 'Flange with a length of pipe' - for lack of better terms. He just calls it a Flange (don't know why)
Title: Re: Flanges and wiley co - available again
Post by: average on April 25, 2006, 10:53:54 PM
Guys, you are misunderstanding. These pipes that you are buying are slip-ons. Meaning that from the factory whichever bike your pipe was meant for attaches by bolts. You unbolt the stock pipe and bolt on the new pipe. Not all applications will come with a flange. Did I clear that up for you, guys?
Title: Re: Flanges and wiley co - available again
Post by: My Name Is Dave on April 25, 2006, 11:06:27 PM
I think we have a miscommunication with "flanges" and "gaskets".

The flange is made by Srinath. It's used to fit an aftermarket pipe to your GS' stock headers.

The gasket comes with the (or some) pipes and is fitted between the exhaust manifold of the bike it was intended for and the slip-on can you buy. As far as I know, the Wileyco can comes with a "donut" type gasket that isn't needed in our application.

I hope I said this right, and I hope it helps.

Dave

So what you're saying is that the people who have said that their Wileyco came with a flange.... mistook a rubber gasket for a...... steel flange? and that our cans aren't actually supposed to come with flanges in the box at all?

looks like it's time for me to backpaddle with the seller... I got him scratching his head cause he's not sure if there should be one included in my box or not... :icon_lol:

So what you're saying is that the people who have said that their Wileyco came with a flange.... mistook a rubber gasket for a...... steel flange? and that our cans aren't actually supposed to come with flanges in the box at all?

looks like it's time for me to backpaddle with the seller... I got him scratching his head cause he's not sure if there should be one included in my box or not... :icon_lol:

I'm thinking people are giving misnomers to parts...or they're calling them the right thing, but it is causing some confusion.

Srinath makes a flange that goes between our midpipe and an aftermarket can, because we don't have the option of installing a true slip-on, like a lot of bikes where you can unbolt the stock can and put on another. We need to cut out stock pipe, fit the srinath flange with the three holes, and then bolt the new can on.

The parts supplied with some cans may technically be called a flange, but we don't need these. We need the srinath flange and the aftermarket can, that's all.

To add my 2 cents in here, the Carbon exhaust I received from the eBay guy, did contain a FLANGE. It's build exactly like the flange we're all waiting for, just not the same length and shape i'd imagine. So yes some of these exhausts, mine being one of them, are coming with flanges that are meant to do the same thing our custom flange is meant to do, just meant for the bike it was ordered for, in my case a gsx1200.

Mine came with the decal in the box not attached to the can.  You don't have to stick your Wileyco sticker on.  Matter of fact you can grab your wileyco sticker and stick it on someone's Harley  :thumb:

HAHAH no I'll stick to keeping the decal on the can... altho it would be super funny to slap one of those on my buddy's harley!!!  :icon_twisted:

Wrecent... sorry dude, but I'm not going to sell you my can... but you can buy this one (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4587892272&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT) for a measely little $85!

Are you seriously holding off of buying one of these great deals because of a decal?

worst case scenario, you use a bit of adhesive remover or simply mount the can so the decal points inwards....

but seriously, the decal on mine definetly is NOT a permanent one... and from the sounds of it... neither is anyone else's....

QuoteI have to pull the tank and check the size of that hose, I've asked here 4 times, no response

Wow man, you're either really patient or REALLY lazy... I'm guessing you've never pulled the tank off before, It takes a whole 2 minutes (maybe 3). Remove 2 bolts from rear cowls, pop em off. remove 2 bolts from tank slide it back, close the tank's petcock and pull off hte hoses. Done!

But ya I do agree about the whole time thing, there is alot to do leading up to installing the can, but each job on its own isn't that hard.... installing the can itself is an afternoon gig. But to each his own I guess...

good luck in your endeavours! (sp?)

Actually if you have a grinder it'll take you all but 20 minutes to install the pipe and flange.

Dude, you can jet the bike now. Do the pipe once you get flange. Im guessing as long as you have the filter your good. Can anyone clarify?

QuoteSo, I get in there, then what?

Then you put it all back together... go to your local parts store and buy the appropriate filter... good god, should I hold your hand too?

Do the crankcase filter now if youre super concerned with time, It's no big deal since you're going to have the breather vented if/when you pop on your lunchbox anyways - Done and over with

Build a center stand stop now and have it ready... install it whenever (if you install it before you get your can ready, it will seem like it took less time to do the whole project - truth is tho... the more times you setup and cleanup... the more time it takes overall better to just do it all at once)

Buy your air filter and have it ready to pop on.

Have your jets standing by.

Buy some paint for the flange and be waiting for the mailman to deliver it.... but try not to get any paint on his nice blue uniform! wait until he hands it over to you :icon_lol:

Come on man, everything stated above (once you have everything in your posession) is an afternoon/evening of work... TOPS! If you don't want to take the time to do it... then don't!

I'm sticking with my initial comment... lazy  jk

So was I, and I imagine most Americans are pronouncing it that way, that's why I posted it... but the company is Italian. It's probably actually a sales hurdle for them here, I imagine in some circles if you pronounce it correctly, no one's going to know what you're talking about. Unintended consequences.

Akin to Teva, Adidas, Shoei, and so on. If you pronounce those brands correctly, people will think YOU'RE the dumb one.

How do you pronounce Shoei?  I've been going with "shooey" but I'm 99% certain that's wrong.  Also, I've heard people say GSX-R as "gix er" with a hard G like girl, or "jix er."  Maybe "correct" and "common" pronunciations of commonly encountered words/brands would make a good FAQ item so retards like me can talk to people without typing.

It's Sho-ee. Or Show-ee, but without the W sound.

I say "gix-er" with the hard G, but I hear most people saying "jixxer".

Wow, I've only heard it pronounced "Jixxer".  If you say GSX-R fast, it sounds like "Jixxer".  I try to avoid every saying it and always call it a GSX-R.  I only hear high school kids calling them gixxer's.

See what you've reduced this thread to Srinath?  You get peoples' hopes up and when you let them down they are left to talk about "Jixxers".

No, it was just last week I finally got around to removing the gas tank (to install the 1/5th throttle) and measured the silly tube. 11mm, neither here nor there in inches, of course, just like the fuel lines. 3/8 inch would fit (somewhat loosely)  the existing hose, or I could clamp down a 1/2" hose on the valve cover and use a filter that size...

Whatch got? Or we can take this off-line to PM to keep from boring everyone else.

Wrecent_Wryder: if you'll scroll up a couple pages you'll see a reply to me stating $50 would cover the shipping. that was $40 for the flange, $8 to ship, and $2 to cover the paypal cost. I was under the impression that was an OK price for everyone in the US. That's the total I sent him.

Hey, just because every time Srinath posts it's more pessimistic than the last, and he has more things ahead of it in his priorities, you're getting discouraged after not even three months (quite)?  So impatient.

Actually, I've been toying with the idea of ordering two- if something were to happen to one, I don't think I'd live long enough to go through this again.... maybe it's a sales tactic.

:icon_rolleyes: I hope that is a tongue in cheek sort of joke. Srinath has no real obligations to have to create these (until he accepted the money, that is). He is doing it as a favor to the GStwin community. Granted he is slow...REAL slow....but still. Silly accusations aren't going to get him moving any quicker. I doubt he is making much - if any - profit. I bought one from him a while back and he was real good about it.

There is no reason you can't find some metalworkers to create one for you. Take the wileyco to the local machine shop and ask them to make an adapter flange for it. It will cost you a lot more than $50 I am sure, but you never know.

OK welder got in, and got 20 made, we only had 20 pipe pieces, have 7 more rounds though ... so 7 more will be made ...
If I forget please make a note of these things ...
The header pipe should be cut plenty longish ... 4+ inches ...
On a 01+ ... I ll spread the slider part ... but if it doesn't fit ... a muffler shop will be able to spread it just fine ...
If you think its a bit loose, put a muffler clamp on it. My header pipe has too much wear, I dunno if its tight or loose anymore ...
More to come ... I'll send it in a day or 2 ...
Cool.

OK I had an idea ...
I'll make a insert ... if its 89-00 use the insert, if not dont ... if you hack it too short well maybe get it welded or clamped tight etc ...
The info here isn't for all production runs ... man no 2 of these damn things are identical ... Heck one guy got one which was so far frocked up ... he had a hole big enough to stick his little finger through between flange and can ... nuts ...
But anyway we will figure somehting for you ... You're so special ...

Aaah ... you got an 89-00 header you're fitting on an 01+ and those are already cut ... not a problem ... I got the pipe for ya ... you'd be fine ...  O0 ... trust me  ... If you are fitting it on the 02 with its headers you'd be trouble ... BTW if anyone wants to get the flange located and tacked or welded, no matter what it will work ...
Just slip fitting on an 01+ is a wee bit more tricky ... cos the blooming 01 head pipe is 2 different diameters where they connect up. I am spreading it to slide over the larger pipe, and you leave a good bit of that pipe (3 inches or so) intact, and then slide them on ... then you can trim your header for a better, tighter fit.
Cool.

Flanges should be getting sent out starting tonight.
The 01+ bikes are a slightly different flange from the 89-00's. For now I will send the right ones out depending on your model. But I am rapidly running out ...
However if your exhaust is a bit off ... and trust me they have been off plenty ... you may have to wrestle extra with stuff ... or maybe have them welded up in position where they slide on.
Now you'd probably need one or more of these as well in addition to getting a weld ...
Muffler clamp.
Muffler tape.
Hose clamp
A file or grinding tool - I should warn y'all at this point ... these pipes haven't been deburred or anything. Call it inflation ... I got it done in spite of my welder threats to raise his rates ... and the muffler shop already charged me more ... inspite of that I managed the same $40 ... might be the last time I manage it ... but lets see I may not make more ... anyway ... there is plenty of sharp edges on these ... dont tear your hands ... hand sand it if you want smooth, or file it or whatever ...
A cutting tool, a dremel is fine, you may have to cut a length wise slit where it slips on, so you can clamp it tight.
Other than that, it should fit in with no incident. You start thinking its going to come loose or something ... I'd say get the header pipe and the flange welded. I know some people did that from the last batch (to keep it from getting stolen too  :2guns: ... )
Cool.
Srinath.

OK none of the boxes I got fitted ... finally had to wrestle with 3 different Staples stores and snag enough Triangle boxes, only to have UPS not like the fact that they were not express mail.
Its a express tube but in the past I been scratching over the express part and sending it ... but guess they smarted up to my tricks ... not a problem, I run to another store and over 2 days get enough boxes, and get these turned inside out and have them repacked up ... finally ...
They get sent UPS tommorow evening, unless its canada, Then its prolly day after by USPS.
Cool.
Srinath.

Title: Re: Flanges and wiley co - available again
Post by: The Buddha on July 09, 2006, 07:40:27 PM
Baby ... you aint seen nothin yet ...
I am on those bars ... guess what ... senter part is going to be laser cut ... flattish but have curled up edges ... that bolts on the 4 bolts that hold the bars to the triple ... the bars themselves go from those ...
Main advantage - for me ... ease of manufacturing, since my welder is threatening to correct his $$ ... inflation and what not ... and I have been losing more due to defects ... and for y'all ... its gonna be much much better looking as well as give you the option of having it upside down ... as in 1+ inch lower than flat ... or 1 inch higher...
The problem is ... angle adjusting is a bit harder ... may have to use spacers or something ...
The flanges are going tommorow. Then we get on the bars. Then case guards ...
Cool.
Srinath.

Title: Re: Flanges and wiley co - available again
Post by: The Buddha on July 09, 2006, 08:18:33 PM
That's not the 1/2 of it ... I commute, never have I just done a ride ... OK in the last 10 years. Always somewhere to go or talk to this guy or that ... I commute everyday on bikes.
I wish the rest of my time was put to decent use like making flanges ... 1/2 of it is wasted in chasing down one dead end after another ... on a lot of things.
I ended up waiting for the welder, and the laser shop and the boxes etc ... insane.
Hopefully bars will be better.
Cool.

OK new ones are out ...
Now what if you have a new bike and got an old flange ...
Cut the pipe exactly where the thing has the larger pipe slipped on ... and sand them all ... and slide it on ... and put it on the bike ... bolt the can up ... if it fits ... clamp down the slipper fit area .. .clamp the can to foot peg carrier and you're done ...
If the flange hits stuff ... rear brake lever especially ... PM me ... or pull the flange to the rear of the bike till it clears ... at that location to where it doesn't hit ... (remember you have to press the brake and still not hit it) see if it will clamp on ... if not ... get it welded ... if its too far off ... PM me, I'll send you a flare fit ...
You can also knock a clearance groove in the pipe where the brake lever should go ... but its prolly harder than the rest of the ideas.
BTW your rear brake shouldn't move a whole heck of a lot ...  O0 so make sure its not hanging waaaaay down there ...
Cool.
Srinath.

OK last call on these ... I wanna say I am down to the last 4-5 ... some are being modded for new ... cos they are all old type ... I'd say give or take 3 new and 2 old are all that's left. Old should fit new, new after these mods wont fit old. The prior few I sent ... will entirely cross fit ... inspite of being a bit more work ... maybe ... but now - I mod for new and they wont fit old ...
Order up ... when they gone - they gone.
They fit several other old school cans - D&D and yosh as well as the old wileyco. 3 bolt 8mm bolt dia, 80 mm bolt centers ... works like a charm.
Cool.
Srinath.

Did you ship the ones for Canada yet? If so when did you ship them so I know when to expect it... and when to start worrying if it's late or delayed or worse...

USPS - went today - very sorry ... sorta at the wofe's mercy there, and me going gimp 3 days ago didn't help.
I got somehitng that looks like a broken leg, feels like a broken leg, behaves like a broken leg ... but is not ... either something in my lungs or no reason at all ... Pain ... really painful ... potentially harmless though.
Cool.

Received the flange few days ago and finally got to install in today. It was pretty easy to do. I did use the muffler tape at the end since it was bit loose fit. Test drove and it sounds great. I left the choker in there since I have K&N filter. I originally thought about rejetting but didn't lose the  power at all so I might keep it this way. Thanks again Srinath and hope you get well soon.

We emailed back and forth a bit a month or so ago, he's still got the '02, been working on those damned SL125s or whatever he was obsessed with for a while.

Said that dealing with the idiots trying to sell a toaster for scrap metal and expect to get 5-10 bucks for it, is annoying.

Still in JoeDirtLand, OR.  AFAIK.  He and RG are no more, from what I gather, as well.

What you mean no more - you mean they were like "doin it" and now they broke up ...
OK so he's fine - you emailed him a couple months ago. How is RG.
Cool.
