Hey guys I want to wear more gear when I ride but I dont know what to do with it once I'm done riding. I usually only ride my bike to school. I go to flight school so I have to leave everything unattended (when I'm out flying). Currently I leave the helmet on the bike, throw my Icon boots & gloves in my backpack and just leave my riding jacket on top of my backpack. I would like to start wearing overpants too but that justs adds to my dilemma about how to store everything.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a tank bag that would be large enough to hold: Boots, Gloves, Jacket and Pants? I was thinking if I had a large tank bag I could just put everything in there and bring it inside the school. I have a 2005 GS500F.

If I were you I would invest in a few pairs of heavy denim jeans that you can wear on and off the bike. Outside of that, get a big back-pack. I can put a helmet, a jacket, a pair of boots and gloves plus an assortment of other paraphenalia in mine. I then carry it with me or just leave it strapped to the bike.
Try looking into saddlebags instead of a tank bag. There's someone on here with really nice looking sporty saddle bags, but can't remember who... Gah. Bad memory. Something to look into though. They're better than tank bags because they hold more and aren't on the tank. I like as little things as possible to scratch my paint.
Is there any lockers at the flight school or somewhere in one of the buldings on the airfield?
you could always grab a dufflebag and stash everything into that and take it inside somewhere
Or lock it all together with a cord and lock. If you have to leave it behind at the school, are there desks or anything you could lock the stuff to?
Unfortunately there are no lockers or desks to put anything in. I feel pretty comfortable leaving it in the school in some type of bag etc. I have considered saddlebags but would rather not leave all that gear on the bike. Right now I do take a backpack because theres stuff I need for school. Once at school I put some of my gear in there but it wont all fit. I'd like to get out of wearing the backpack because I think its uncomfortable to ride with. Thanks for the suggestions so far...keep them coming.

Saddlebags can be taken off the bike and carried much like a duffel bag. They're safer than a backpack and better than strapping something to your seat.

I beg to differ. I slid 80 feet and I had barely any damage on my legs. The only reason my jeans got trashed was because the EMS cut them up. They were fairly heavy denim jeans though. Not Draggin' Jeans or motorcycle jeans, but pretty thick nonetheless.
Correction. That number is for rough concrete. I'm sure that on smooth asphalt they would last longer.

Yeah. I was on rough asphalt at the time, too, so even longer on smooth asphalt. How often are you sliding on concrete though? Most roads are asphalt now, unless you're on an overpass.
I don't know where you find this "smooth asphault" at but nothing I had stands up to it very well.
Quality welding jeans hold up really well. 3oz material should...mine weigh like 10 lbs...

The slab is called that because it's typically concrete. Rough concrete gives better traction when wet, so it is widely used for controlled access highways in areas that are geologically stable. It's not used where the earth moves a lot though, because concrete doesn't flex very well....
makenzie: smooth is a realtive term. That is opposed to concrete that's deliberately made rough so that the pointy bits stick into tires to increase traction.

No, it doesn't, but jeans will last longer on smoother surfaces than rougher ones. That's not to say that they'll last very long though. That's why I have gear. But hey, people can cover their ass however they want. I'll cover mine with armor, not cotton, thanks. If I wreck, I would prefer either relatively minor injuries, or death. Not too keen on the drain bamage and road rash myself.

Ehhhhh that is an old picture. It is better now but it was a royal pain in the ass to put on..... it took hours!!!!! I have newer pictures but none with the bags on since I took them off for winter storage. And I dont take near the stuff with me since I am not riding it to work everyday. But you are more than welcome to come on up if you think you can put it on any better!!! LOL :flipoff: :flipoff: :laugh:

Mount up with clip fasteners, just like the tourmaster saddle bags. Have a handle on top that holds them together. I have been using them the last few nice days here and I really like them. Good quality.

I have and regularly use the the tourmaster cortech non-sport tailbag and the mini-magnetic tankbag. I'm going to buy the matching/strapping together saddlebags next for some camping usage. Tailbag is great, but I don't think I could fit that much stuff in it.
I'm needing a rack for the back to strap a tent to. Thoughts?

Not exactly what I orginally had in mind but it will do the trick. Thing is huge when its expanded. Holds 30 L, 45L when expanded. Rode home with it seemed really secure. Held on by four built in bungees that hook perfectly under the tail. One part unzips and you can wear it like a backpack. Pretty cool tail pack.
