This might be a question that get ask alot but Iv'e been looking around and I found two # for horserpower, the horsepower # I found are 43.2 and 47 for the suzuki GS500F. which # is right?
Not sure where you got your #'s, but I would lean closer to the first. I've read between 37 and 42.
A very subjective subject, there are 3 ways to measure horsepower and you WILL get 3 different results. Genrally the factory quoted figure is horsepower produced at the crank, this is always the highest figure, so this is what the factory always quote, then there is horsepower at the rear wheel, as measured on a rolling road dyno, this is the truest way to measure it, as that is the power you put on the road, the difference between these two figures can be as much as 10HP as that is what you can lose in the drive train, the third way is rarely used, that is HP at the rear sprocket. So both the figures you quoted may in fact be correct, I think the factory quoted rating is around 47HP, at the crank, this would equate to about 38-40 at the rear wheel.
Thank you
Yes the actual horsepower to the ground at the rear tire is 37-40 hp.
