Title: Why do people do these things to Porsches?

Ugh.

You may also remember my last porsche thread:

I've owned a 924S and people ragged on that car as not being a porsche- but I mean THESE are ridiculous

I don't see anything wrong with it.  You do know that RUF did about 30 of those with the 951, right?  Made it more accomidating in the rear, actually balanced and stiffened the car up, made room for some crazy structural bracing and then they pumped on 350rwhp.

Its not like they put blingtastic rims and a huge wing on it.  I don't see anything wrong with a special, nicely executed, one-off like that.  I was hoping for something actually offensive.

It's not like someone took a Porsche and turned it into that, they took porsche parts, probably junkyard scrap and made it into that.  The front end is off of a 1987-1990 944 Turbo, in 1980/1 they only made the 924, which is a whole different setup (air cooled, slightly different body style, lights, etc.).  The auction claims a 2.0l turbocharged motor with 177hp, the stock 944 turbo put out well over 200hp, why is this one so low? Probably because some jackass took the 924's engine, strapped on a turbo and now he can call it a "Porsche Cargo Turbo".  The fact of the matter is that while this is a clean example of Porsche bodywork that has been redone into something creative, this is no more a "Porsche" than if I took Porsche seats and put them in my Taurus and called it "Porsche Bubble Sport Turbo Domestic Sedan".

The pics are buried somewhere in my magazine stash, but along with those presented here, other Porsche abominations have included a 914 pick-up, a 356 panel van and a 356 stretch limo. The depravity of the human mind has no limits :icon_rolleyes:
