Hey Everyone,
I've been riding a GS500 model 2002 for 6 months now (my first bike)
and I like it a lot!
I' ve put up an other steer, mirrors, heated hand grips and a new paint job (black)
and next week I'll be installing a dualt tone air horn (the standard horn sounds like a scooter)
there is however one thing I'd like to do, but don't know how and if it is advisable...
I'd like to polish everything alluminium till it shines
question is -> are the wheels alluminium?
-> what else is alluminium?
-> can it be polished?
-> is this a good idea or a waste of time?
thanks very much!
Lieven
Yes, the wheels are aluminum...but your best bet is to polish the wheel lips only. You can mask the wheel centers, and use aircraft paint remover for the lips...piece of cake.
Grab handle in the back is aluminum. Use the same procedure above.
The frame is steel I believe.
You can polish whatever you want...do what you like! That's how you make your bike "Your bike". :thumb:
Welcome!
The frame is steel, but you can still polish it after you remove all the paint; I don't advise it, though, because of rust. Engine covers are aluminum.
