Title: Clip on ??? Oh no!
Post by: batmx3man on March 11, 2006, 11:15:18 PM
Aight, I am about to buy some vortex clip ons (oh god not another clip on post!).  I was reading through some old posts about mounting these bad boys and I know its either over or under the triple clamp.  Both ways, from what I am understanding, will have a pretty decent effect on the handling.  Sooo, my question is, after taking a quick gander at my bike, if i take the top bit off (forgot what it was called) that holds the bars on now and raise the triple up closer to the top of the forks then mount the clip ons under would this not cancel out the effect on the handling of these actions + give me enough space to not mess with the headlight mounts?  Second question what is the width of the bit that actually clips onto the forks?

Thanks
Brian

Devildog.....you are looking for 37mm clip ons. As far as the forks; you loosen the bolts(wait; going to the porch)allen key bolts that is, immediately under the triple tree and also the bolts on each fork right above the fender and they should just slide down. Probably wont to have a friend to help you so that you can make sure that they are even.
Depending on your height or how agressive you want the ride is what you should base your decision on as far as were to mount them. Only you can decide whats comfortable for you O0

You can get Vortex ones on eBay for $120.

For $120 youmight be able to buy a Kat front end with clip ons and everything. Maybe.

Is there really any difference between brands when it comes to clip ons?
