scratch wants to service your GS!
Ok, you pervs! :nono: *I* was talking about syncing your GS carbs; what were YOU thinking??? Hmmm...?? :cookoo:
We'll start the carb syncing at 9AM (unless we change our minds and decide to start later). Post your time preference in this thread!
PM pandy for address, directions, and contact number.
Post your preferred time slot here (9AM, 9:30AM, 10AM, etc) so that we can get an idea of how many folks want to come play.
If there's time, and if we haven't worked scratch into the ground :icon_lol:, we can take a GS ride! Route to be determined later.
Keep checking back for more info! :thumb:
Sponsored by scratch and pandy.
So far we have for carbs, etc....

Yep, this is a 'free' service, provided by yours truely, in hopes of continuing a happy, healthy and harmonious relationship with all your carbs out there. Your carbs will be synchronized dynamically using a PCCC (circa 1990, now Motion Pro) mercury vacuum stick (calibration not required). It would be a good idea if your valves are within spec, and your carbs already jetted. No warranty of work implied (how could we? It's free :flipoff:).
Customers may experience smoother vibrations, increased fuel economy, smoother power delivery, maybe a slight increase in percieved power, and better throttle response. If you don't there's something else wrong with your bike; get it fixed. :flipoff:
Please make sure your crab area is clean.
Where's that halo emoticon?? :icon_mrgreen:
(Now....can scratch tell what I modified!?) :icon_lol:
I'm not doing that kind of inspection!

Keep those crab areas clean, folks!
<---is a baaaaaaaaaaaaad girl! :icon_mrgreen:
Can former GSers just show up, say hi and chill out? I will have the Triumph by then and Kate has her SV (when I'm not riding it while I am bikeless....). Sounds likea blast.
Once a part of the GS family, ALWAYS a part of the GS family..as if you could be rid of us so easily... :icon_twisted:
Of COURSE you're welcome!!! :thumb: :icon_mrgreen:
Will you guys consider making a house visit? If so, howsabout zip code 01013?

I think we're going to keep the first service day for GS's. If we find we have room, we can always change that later. :thumb:

I got a freaking wedding reception in LA (brothers) and then i got an charity event i am MCing .. in the morning.. grrr!
Great idea!! When Scratch coming into the Miid-West? Baring that, how's about someone digitally video'ing the event and posting the process so the rest of us can be "virtually there".
Feeling left out here in the land of the 24°F morning air...
Count me in. Too soon to say a time yet, but I'll definitely be there.
Odds are that I'll be back up in Norcal by then. Assuming I am, I'll definitely be there.
So far we have....

Do you need a second mechanic?
Those bikes needs to be test-ridden at least 50 miles to ensure the carburetors and warp core crystals are properly set. :icon_twisted:
I may stop by schedule permitting. I'll know more in a couple weeks.

I think the 20th is either in the middle of finals or close to graduation day. I'll probably make an effort as I don't plan on staying in the south bay for much longer... probably gonna go back to the east bay after school is done

Thanks, Ill give it a shot.
Bah, I just realized I signed up for the newbie BARF ride on the same day. On one hand, I wanna get to know the roads. On the other hand, I'll be pulling my carbs out and cleaning them soon, so this would be great after that. What time were you guys thinking of doing this, maybe I could make both.
We were thinking of starting at about 9....isn't that around the time the newbie ride starts?
Hope you can manage both! :icon_mrgreen:
Brett, you're riding up from LA!? Wow!! If so, we'll put you first on the list, so you can make the newbie ride.

Oh, haha. Not to ruin your image of me as a totally badass iron-butt rider, but I'm moving back up to Norcal in a week or so. I'll be "riding up" from Los Gatos by then. Sorry to disappoint. ;)
Back on hand, could one of you PM me where this is gonna be? The newbie ride starts 10 AM in Woodside, so before would probably be cutting it close. They say the ride will be around 3-4 hours, so I probably wouldn't be back until 3 or so at best. Bah, I dunno, gotta think about which one I want/need more I guess.
I'll be sending out address/directions tomorrow! If I miss someone, PM or e me. :thumb:
scratch can best advise about whether both are do-able.... :)
Get here @ 9 have you out 9:20, Hwy 85 to 17 to 9 to 35 to Woodside. And, that's the fun route! But, you might be late unless you do semi-legal speeds...or, you get trapped behind cars on 9 and 35 (that would suck*).
*(Majorly...)
(...dude)
Edit: Nope, checked the map 280 all the way to Woodside, you wont make it. Go to the ride first, if you so choose.
I believed I've PM'd everyone on the list. PM me if I missed you! :icon_mrgreen:
I still plan on coming but the 20th is smack in the middle of finals (or maybe just after?) so I'm still not totally sure. I'm only really thinking out 3 or 4 days ahead at the moment
anybody else doing oil changes? it's getting close to time for me and I don't really have a spot here to do it
the people on the harmony central forums are planning something for that night so I don't know if I can make a ride

Not that I know of, but bring your own oil, and you're welcome to DIY! We have a pan to catch the oil, and we have a recycling program for the old oil. :thumb:
i am getting ready to send my gs for service (valves, oil change and all the neat things), so the carbs will need to be serviced too? (do the guys at the shop do that as part of the service?)
Anyway, I could go and provide video coverage... but from chico to sunnyvale is around 200+ miles and i'm still really hurt from a shoulder since last year car accident (got rear-ended). I will seriously think about it.
Yes. If you told them tune & service, then yes, they should balance the carbs.
Time to start posting up preferred times! :icon_mrgreen:
I'd be interested in going, I am still on n00b patrol and so I can't drive on freeways, but if I can get there, I'll go. When's a good not-taken time for carb adjustment?
The time's for carb syncings are open right now. I'll PM you the info, and hopefully you can get to us on side streets!
Let us know if you can make it and what's a good time for you! :thumb:
Pencil me in for 9. I think I can make this and the BARF ride.

Sorry, 9AM has already been filled :(
Looks like I will be on my own, the girlfriend wants to chill out at home. So, thinking I might have a project for those just chilling out. I have some frame sliders that need to get attached to my Daytona 675. Strip her naked then put them on? Will there be a stand kicking around that I could use? A torque wrench?
We have a stand. What size torque wrench?
Or were you talking about stripping your gf nekkid and putting her to work?? :flipoff:
Leaving the girlfriend behind while the stripping goes on.....
Thnks Pandy. Our stands just arrived but they don't fit very well in a backpack. It'll give me a fun moto project since I don't have those 'carb' things anymore...
jbeaber made an excellent suggestion:
If anyone has a Chatterbox, bring it! Several of us are hooked up! :icon_mrgreen:
I'll probably be by in the morning (9-10ish) to hang out and maybe lend a hand if needed. Depending on how much time I have tomorrow, I might chase down an oil filter but we'll see how motivated I am to get to the shop.
After this morning's weather report, I hope the weather stays nice
I can bring my oil filter, I wont need it til next week...
Awright....who's the wiseguy that ordered up the rain this weekend!? :cookoo: :flipoff:
Hmm.....should we put the umbrella over scratch...or over the bike he's working on....? :dunno_white: :icon_twisted: :icon_mrgreen:

thanks but I just went by SC Accesories and got a oil filter/oil/spark plugs :thumb:
I got a free (orange) Repsol shirt since I bought a gallon of Repsol. While supplies last!!! :icon_mrgreen:
Rain doesn't really bother me so I still plan on coming. If it does rain hard, I might decide against doing the oil change because it sucks to change oil when there's rain falling in the catch tray ;)
oh, and the umbrella can go over me :flipoff: :icon_twisted:
o yeah, I shot down the three little nut things on the oil filter cover today with some liquid wrench. Hopefully everything will come loose ok. ...don't be hamfisted... ...don't be hamfisted... ...don't be hamfisted... :nono: :)
Cool.
In that case, Pandy, can I change my oil while I'm waiting in between carb synchs?
