Title: Ignition Advance Late Model?
Post by: Codger on March 13, 2006, 05:07:07 PM
I know this subject has run ad nauseum, but I'll throw one more question into the list.

I understand that for the late model Canadian/USA models, the Lockhart Phillips advance rotor does not fit.
I under stand that the trigger pickup plate can be notched and rotated to add idle advance and total advance.
I would prefer to maintain the total advance and only advance at idle.

As I understand the manual, the '04 CanAm models w/ 5@idle and 40@4k, it shows UK with 12@idle and 40@4k.

Does the UK late model have the same ignition as the older CanAm model or does it have the new generation ignition with different timing in the control box or altered rotor?  i.e. can UK parts give me a plug and play 12/40 timing.

Thanks all.

Does anyone know?  Would be interesting to try.

Probably the most obvious indicator is if the late model Brit bikes have the single lobe rotor or a multi lobe rotor.
