Title: Where can a find a fused positive?
Post by: Jonesy on March 18, 2006, 05:36:30 PM
Hi all. I want to fit a intercom system and need a positive wire. I do not want to wire straight to battery. Any ideas where I can find one that is only live when ignition on?

If your bike is dated prior to 2004, there is a single brown wire in the headlight bucket that is switched on by the ignition key.  When the engine is running the wire is protected by the limited output of the regulator/rectifier/generator.  When the engine is off the wire is protected by the 20 amp fuse.

On your '04 bike, this same brown wire appears at a white connector under the seat at the back. It's for the brake/tail light combination. It's not convenient to connect to so you'll have to tap into it somehow.

You can connect to the battery negative terminal (-) for the ground connection.
