Title: Looking for GS riders near Redding, CA.
Post by: Deadfallkid on March 19, 2006, 12:18:58 AM
I have had my GS for almost and year and live in one of the best riding areas in the world (Trinity County, CA).  I have found there is a large group cruiser rifeders, but no sport bike riders.  The weather has been icy lately, but riding weather is near.  Please let me know.

I rode to corning, CA 2 days ago: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=24810.msg255966#msg255966
the goal was redding, but there was a lot of slow traffic so I took the turn (coming from chico).

I've seen too many sport riders in chico In fact yesterday (sat) I rode for a while with gf, and we saw way too many sportbikes on the road (you know, finally a nice sunny day).

I used to live in Red Bluff. Err....just outside RB near Gerber. Born and raised, have been away from "home" for 4 1/2 years now.
Wish I still lived up there....I know of a few roads I would definitely enjoy riding (like hwy 36 just north of Red Bluff).

Good to know there are a few of us around.  When the weather breaks, get ahold of me.  Best roads around are Highway 36 from Red Bluff to Hayfork, up Highway 3 to Douglas City, and from there head east on Highway 299 to Redding.  Another good one is from Weaverville head north on Highway 3, past Trinity Lake and over Scott Mtn.  Follow that north to Yreka and then I-5 south into Redding.  These are great roads with VERY tight turns, perfect for a GS500.  I'm in Weaverville and our mountain roads are the best.  Looking to hear from some of you when the weather breaks.  Happy Riding!
