Post by: budget speed demon on March 20, 2006, 08:17:53 PM
ok, stupid question to ask I know. but I've been looking for a large 50's style pin-up girl patch for the back of a jacket. if anyone knows where I can find one online that would be great. somthing between 9 and 14" tall. thanks a lot.

Jacket art is a big deal in some circles, and there are whole forums devoted to leather jackets and their history. The sort of thing you seem to be going for was derived from aircraft "nose art" and applied to aviator jackets in wartime. It is being reproduced in various ways by various artists... but I don't think I've ever seen it as a large patch. Typically, it's painted directly on the leather back of the jacket.

I'm partial to Rita Hayworth myself...

well I have one now. kind of along the lines of this
(http://www.uswings.com/images/secondchance_detail.jpg)

not exactly the same, but similar. the problem is that the jacket is a too small and its also a "clasic biker style".

I want to get a basic sporty jacket and put a similar pin-up girl on it but can't find a patch. I was thinking about having a patch custom made but haven't looked into it yet. I suppose I could always go the route of having it airbrushed on.... it all sound so expensive... :icon_rolleyes:

If you take a picture of what you want you can usually get it embroidered ( not sure of spelling) right onto your jacket and can usually have it resized to what you want.
Just a thought if you cannot find a patch.  Or don't want it air brushed on.

I like this idea, but I'm wondering how much this kind of thing would cost?
