Alrighty.

Question number 2: I searched and found that for a bright headlight, the silverstars are the way to go. The thing is I have no idea where I can fiind the best deal on these lights. If someone could link me to a site that is decently cheap, that would be great.

There was a guy making race tails for the GS I think that is about the only solo tail that I know of? I did a search and came up with this topic.

i just put a silverstar (get the 9003 style) in my headlight when i got it the bike out of "winter" hibernation.  Cost $17 for the single bulb at the local advance auto.  it does seem brighter and whiter than my old one, but i can't compare it very easily because the last time i used the old bulb was months ago.

Thanks for pointing that out. I wasn't sure if it was compatible with both the E's and F's or not.

Hi,

I'm the guy who created the solo tail for the pre '03. I was working on a race tail and cover for the new tail when I got call up for a trip to Iraq. Dgyver picked up my projects and production while I've been away (and is better at it LOL!). But he has alot of pans in the fire so I don't know if he ever got around to this one.

James,

That is good news.  I hope that it is true. Either way, get home in one piece.  A lot of my buddies didn't from 'nam.

BTW, this is what I did with your race tail. I bolted it to the stock seat pan (front section) filled in between them with aerosol foam and used the stock seat release.

Hey! Thats a pretty clever solution for converting it to street use. :thumb:

Looks more like a saddle with a poofy passenger seat.  Pretty cool though. Any idea of who made/makes it?

Yeah I have a pretty good idea who makes it....

Me.

That's a seat I made awhile back..( went with that Gs when I sold it...).

It's a stock seat with 2 inches of closed cell foam added to it and sculpted..... Patterned and sewed the cover etc etc.

You could sit on the back in an emergency but it's not "poofy" ...the closed cell foam isn't nearly as soft as the stock seats foam.
