I hope no one went down because of cold tires  Especially with all that snow.

I know exactly what you mean there. If there is snow on the ground it is way to cold for this Florida boy to be out on a bike. I prefer to not freeze the "boys" to death.
I rode my Speed Four today in Chicago and holy cow was it cold. I never have a problem with my face (it's in a helmet) or body or legs, but my fingers, esp. my ring and pinky fingers are terrible. I was totally numb after 5 miles, and would keep my hands on the engine at stop lights. Here's a tip that I found to be helpful though, when riding in the cold wear latex surgical gloves underneath your riding gloves, you'll retain some heat and if your gloves are ventilated, it helps even more by putting a layer between your hands and the vents.
Today's weather:
Clouds Early / Clearing Late
24° F
Precip: 0%
Cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy after midnight. Low 24F. Winds NNW at 20 to 25 mph.

And to think, I started all of this cold tire, crashing nonsense.
funny thing is, when we started the ride at the bottom it was about 60F and clear. Only about half way up did we encounter snow. I couldnt find more current pictures of recent rides so you'll have to do with those above, taken almost exactly a year ago on 4/3/05.
Egg-zactly, Pablo. That's the difference between you folks down there and us folk up here. You guys get to ride back into the warmth. From November to March, we up here get warm only by finding some place with a furnace or fire.
Not that I'm envious... :)
PS. So what's special about snow? Want us to mail you some???
nothing special about it. no need to send me some. I can find my own. Just want people in the eastern states to see that we californians can also encounter winter riding conditions. If nothing else, we're at a disadvantage since we have to dress and prepare for both conditions on one ride and have little experience riding in cold wet conditions.
10-4.
I'll look for someone else to take our cold stuff away.
S....now?
Man. I love Texas.
Love snow ... love the fact that we see it just about 1 in a year, and the whole damn city comes to a grinding halt ... :thumb: ... we get ice storm also 1 a year and again ... grinding halt ... Freaking rain is the worst ... cannot stand it ...
Cool.
Srinath.
you talking california or the carolinas?

Pablo is just trying to pull the wool over your eyes. What those pictures don't tell you is that if he went the other way, he probably would have been riding along a sunny (albeit cold) PCH on the same day.
ssshhhh!
