For some reason I still can't get the old gallery to work right here. It's making me totally nuts.
Should I just start a new gallery and lose all the captions and comments OR should I spend a few more days trying to get the old stuff imported properly?
forget the captions and comments... well comments..
the captions itself is no use.. but the pictures are more worth it. We can put new comments in instead of captions, so just do the pictures.
:thumb:here john hAVE many beers youll feel better :cheers: :cheers: :cheers: :cheers: :cheers: :cheers: :cheers: :cheers: :cheers:
Start the new gallery...and we can all make up new captions! :thumb:
And I can then change all the captions! I've heard I'm good at that! :icon_twisted:
I would say just start a new one. We'll have no problem adding new content.

John.
Just start a new gallery, but manually re-type all of the awesomely cool things every body said about my bike, stunning looks, chiseled features and winning personality. The rest is just clogging up cyber space, IMO.
After all, we wouldn't want all of the truly vital information lost for the ages, would we?!
try again to save the captions. many had info on the bikes pictured. would be useful but you be the judge of when enough is too much...
Well I'm going to try to get things working one more time today and if it doesn't work I'm going to just insert the old pics.
Now I have to figure out how to tie coppermine user/pass into SMF user/pass for posting pics. Anybody want to save me some time and research it? I have to leave for class then work so it would be a real time saver for me :)
apparently, these steps work for a new gallery installation only, and all pics/reg users on the gallery are lost when integrating.
it seems that you must:
+ download coppermine (latest of course)
+ upload files to a subdirectory (something like 'cpg' or just 'gallery')
- it doesn't seem to work with a subdomain.
+ CHMOD the correct files and directories (the installation manuals says which ones)
+ MAYBE do extra step (see APPENDIX down below)
+ Run installer and user the same dbase/user/pass used for SMF (use cpg_ preffix on SMF's dbase)
+ use bridge wizard
APPENDIX
you might need to change a few things:
+ In /include/init.inc.php, find
// define('UDB_INTEGRATION', 'smf');
and replace with
define('UDB_INTEGRATION', 'smf');
+ In /bridge/smf.inc.php, find:
$path = '../smf';
----
and replace with the directory where the forum is installed (in this case '../gsboard' )
more stuff over here: http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#integrating
Installing a new gallery is nothing. Done it a few times with no issues to test.
Here's where I am: I think I might have SMF and gallery tied in -just need some info that is at home.
I think if that works, then my copy of the old gaallery might function properly.
Getting close. Very close. I just need to finish work and go home. I'm getting a good feeling that I'm on the right track.
