Title: Riding Gear?
Post by: thatguy1025 on March 30, 2006, 10:43:53 PM
Today I went into the Honda dealership to get a riding jacket, JUST A RIDING JACKET $178 reduced to $129 (Military discount).

But shortly after I mentioned to my friend that I COULD use a new set of gloves, well the sales manager overheard me and luckily me he found some in the backroom witch matched my bike perfectly, and cut me some kind of wicked military discount $60 reduced to $32. Afterwards I was flipping through the catalog I realized that I could use some boots and .......... Just my luck they had some on sale with a military discount $89 reduced to $59 added to those as well.

*Sigh* and to think I got the bike to save money.

Oh well I'm off my main point witch is: How much gear do you usually have on when you go riding?

On rides around town I wear jacket, gloves, helmet, jeans, and closed toed shoes. On my hill country rides I wear full leathers, gauntlet gloves, helmet, and boots. Sometimes I'll substitute the mesh jacket for my leather jacket on the hill country stuff, and sometimes I'll wear boots around town (I should wear them all the time, really).

a leather or armored mesh jacket
full face DOT and SNELL approved helmet
& FULL leather gloves

Other than that, regular skate shoes and jeans.

Having crashed recently, I suggest getting some kind of armored pants. The knees usually bite it pretty hard when you go down, then the hips.
And one of those expensive spine protectors is going to be my next "gear" related purchase. Can't put a price on your spine and being able to walk. (not to mention being able to use your wiener :))

My minimum gear is Textile Moto jacket, moto gloves, full face hat, and steel-toe boots...

I usually wear jeans too.     I have textile moto pants for when it's raining or really cold.

Helmet...  :icon_razz:

When I took my MSF, there was a woman there that would only ever call her helmet a hat...  Even when people would say "Helmet?" she would say HAT...  I just thought it was funny... :icon_mrgreen:

HAT!!!

my girlfriend wants me to buy her a pink hat as she calls it. I normally ride w/ jeans my jacket and cowhide gloves and running shoes. if its long distance only thing i switch is to hiking boots.  had i more money i'd get a good pair of gloves and maybe some fancy boots.

I have full face modular helmet, mesh armored jacket, first gear overpants ( I need to order regualr riding pants ) and mesh with leather gloves.  I'm going to be getting some all leather gloves this week or at the latest next week.  For boots I use timerlands ( wide feet ).  But I did see some alpinestars that were for wide feet I'm going to order those on Monday.
Oh and no matter where I'm going I always wear all of my gear.

If I'm too lazy to gear up, I don't go.  :thumb:
