Ok... I have been through hell trying to get my GS back on the road. Here's the setup:
My bike ran well... for a while... but it kept fowling the left cylinder (plugs were black... it was running rich)
So i took the float bowls off and adjusted the tang
Now, via the float height test (how to page), both sides are level with the gasket that separates the float bowl and the carb
Problem solved???? NO... ITS WORSE NOW... HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED!!!
Now the bike acts like it has no fuel (like the tanks empty) I can get it to start and idle only after much persuasion
Once it idles, if I turn the throttle there is no rpm response... the tone of the exhaust get deeper momentarily but its like it is just bogging down or something
If I barely turn the throttle (just a 1/4) there is no immediate response but the rpm's will eventually (and reluctantly) climb
After most any throttle play the engine like to die
I am so lost... I'm supposed to sell my bike to a guy in a week and I'm pissed... I refuse to be shady and sell him a bike with problmes (though this one wouldn't be hard to miss)....
PLEASE HELP!!!!
have you looked at the jets to see if they may be cloged ? how long has the bike been sitting there . dose the tank have ANY rust in it ? if it has a fuel fliter have you changed it yet ?
ok.... so the problem was a ruined plug... even though I cleaned it it wouldn't fire... I put a new one in and I'm good for like 30 minutes
now... forget it... I'm making a new post!
