Title: Suzuki Cowling / Windscreen Accessories.
Post by: DR.9 on April 05, 2006, 08:46:33 AM
Hello,

I have a 2005 gs500e.  I know there is a single accessory out of the 2005 suzuki brochure (it's hidden amonst dirtbike accesories).
I love the look of the totally naked bike but for several months of cold biting Canadian winds I'm going to sacrifice looks for some comfort.

Has anyone gotten the windscreen 99950-72011?  how does it perform for highway driving  (I'm 6'3" if that matters).  Does it match the suzuki blue well?

Option B) is going with a generic mid-wind screen.  Has anyone here done that?

Any experience appreciated.

Where do you live that you have a 2005 GS E?

Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

It's still a little cool and windy here.  hence the desire for a windscreen (and maybe heated grips come nov.)

Whether you have a quiet chuckle to yourself or a big -gufaw like when you and your 30 extended family members watch 'Hee-Haw' reruns in your mobile home...whatever, as long as you're amused -enjoy.

I'm sure wherever you live in Canuckistan is as crappy weather as any.

----------------

Too bad zero meaningful information on the topic though.  Anyone?  Anyone have any real experiene about cowling or the suzuki windscreen?    The naked version of the sv650 headlight assembly looks very close to the GS500E.  In fact the 2005 catalog picture for the GS500E accessory windscreen the bike has a rad on it.

Well my Torontonian friend... I'm from NB, lived most of my life out there... so I know what gettin lots of snow is like... they still have about 4 - 5 feet of it there now... and now that I've spent a winter in Winterpeg... well I know what cold is like... and having spent almost 2 years living in Whitby in between NB and the 'Peg... I Know how mild the winters are. Its pretty damn pittiful to watch such a largely populated area like the GTA come to a grinding hault on a measely little 15cm of snow, it's bloody rediculous  :icon_lol: ppl just don't understand the logic of "if it's icy/slippery... SLOW DOWN!!!" And then there's the other side of the coin... the ppl that never stop for anything... I remember hearing about one guy, bootin up the 407 - I think - a few years ago, goin 140k a few hours after a 'snow storm' (thats what the local radio/tv ppl were calling it  :cookoo: ) anyways he wrapped his car and himself around an overpass support beam. Stupid %$@#&!

It's all relative I guess... ppl just need to learn how to adapt to the conditions that's all, no matter how extreme or mild they may be... afterall, they do happen every year!  :icon_lol:

Oh here's another interesting fact I learned since I've been in winnipeg... At one end of the city, is the actual Geographical center of Canada... So many ppl seem to think that it's Toronto...!!        Now you don't happen to be one of those ppl do you...  :icon_rolleyes: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

Geographical center of North America is Rugby, ND.

I'm in Saskatoon now, my '93 GS hasn't seen the outdoors since Halloween.  bullshit weather up here, even minneapolis is tropical compared to this. Winnipeg is supposed to be similarly cold and nasty.

I have a targa fairing on mine - keeps wind off my chest, no buffeting at helmet levels. I'm 5'10" with a short torso for my height, for reference. Suzuki screen is about the same size, so result should be the same.

I'm make fun of the leafs, but my hometown MN Wild sucked it up hard this year as well. I guess I'll cheer for Edmonton, they're nearby.
