I would hope there'd be a lot of people playing Tourist Trophy (http://www.us.playstation.com/Content/OGS/SCUS-97502/Site/) since it is the definitive motorcycle sim. One of the great features is the photo mode. Show them off here.
Took these today. Click on any image to see a larger one.

That game looks sick! Damn, might rent it this weekend if it's in.
geek do u have it for ps2? how did u get the screenshots to ur computer? also how much did u pay for it?
well i couldnt wait. i ordered it from buy.com for 38.99 and free shipping!
i am almost 100% sure that there's no countersteering in this game... :nono:
awsome graphics...and i'm amazed that it's only 39.99! :thumb:

Yeah I was thinking that too, if polyphony wanted to do it realistic, then it should be that way. Who knows, maybe there's an option.
May not be, but MAN is it fun anyway. Just like GT4 but with bikes. Sweet, glorious bikez.

I only say it because this game is supposed to be a simulator. but what the heck do I know about games :dunno_white:
Go hop on your bike, get going about 40mph, take your hands off the bars and lean to the right and tell me if the bike turns. If it does, explain how you did it without countersteering. If it does not, you can kick me in the balls.:D
Developing the complexity of realistic control into the game would have been pretty difficult as at speed you can actually manuever the bike without any handlebard input and do some pretty aggressive stuff with minimalistic effort. It's actually possible to simulate on a $15,000 arcade maching with a leaning moto frame to sit on and genuine hand and foot controls...but incorparating such complexities into a PS2 paddle would make the game immensely difficult and we probably wouldn't have had it released until March of '09.
I'm still confounded by the fact that Polyphony actually released the game on time...not even GT1 was released on time and it didn't really have a release date...
For the first time in my life I can say that I'm better at something in real life than in its video game counterpart. This game is hard, man.
Is anyone else having a hard time getting it down? I can only ride the sub-500cc bikes, and I have to take the corners really slow. Needless to say, I am getting nowhere. I'm having fun of course, but I may be missing something here.
I thought I was doing horribly, too, until I compared some of my times to real-world intermediate and expert track-day riders' times at Laguna Seca...it just takes a bit of time to actually adjust yourself to how fast you're actually going and how the controls work.
I bought this game over the weekend. It was $39. At first, I was lowsiding and running long in corners, even with the little 250's. Frustrated me so bad I went for a ride on the GS. Came back and tried it again.
Within two hours of playing, I built my garage up with about 20 bikes, and I am now able to out run the Italian liter bikes on my MV Agusta F4. It is awsome once you get the knack for braking soon enough and throwing it into a corner without running long.
Heck, I even got the 'Busa and a Firebolt XB12R, all the 600 bikes, and the Gixxer 750. I wasn't able to handle the Ducati 999R. That thing will spin up and buck you at the drop of a hat.
But the F4 is my favorite. Plus they allow you to fit different pipes on pretty much every bike you get (except the factory race bikes). I'm now enjoying it as much as GT4, and I've only had it one day.
Yeah 30 minutes last night got me like 8 new bikes...bike acquisition is kinda of lame in it's simplicity. The only thing I'll mis from the GT series is having to buy stuff...
It took me a while to figure out how to get a new bike. I had this scooter and was like, WTF? But you can get the novice license and the junior license pretty easy, and to get new bikes you need to race them and stay ahead of the CPU rider for 10 seconds. When I got one bike can't remember which, I was actually low siding it when the ten seconds expired.
I also miss having to save money for parts and new rides. Plus you don't have to sell bikes to make some extra cash, so your garage is full so stuff you'll never use, like the Motard and the '79 CB750F, etc.
Simplicity? Man, I'd get ahead of the other guy and just start praying that he wouldn't pass me in the next 10 seconds. I'm terrible. It may have to do with the fact that my PS2 was covered in dust from not being played in the past year. I'm a little rusty.
I do the same thing in GT4. Something in my head says that slowing down will put me more behind, so I barely brake and then gas it through the corners. So of course I wreck all the time. Maybe if I change the view to the rider's perspective I will start riding like I know how in real life. Or not, who knows...
I prefer the first person camera, but not the one that shows the windscreen. You can't see through those damn things. It got like 100 times easier from the first person camera. Trust me.

I'm only remembering 2 camera angles (overhead and first-person), but I must be wrong. I'll have to check it out tonight.
one thing I noticed that's kind of cheap is that in a race you can plow into a wall at full speed instead of braking into the turn and BAM! It'll slam you back on the track about a second faster than had you done it "right"...

Note to self...
Yeah, the wrecking is kind of hokey, but can you imagine if it took like 30 seconds to walk over, pick up your bike, etc. You'd have to re-start every race that you crashed. I would loose my mind. So I guess the way it is is fine, even if I feel cheap for winning a race that I crashed.
Oh, yeah. There are three camera views. One third person and two first person. In one first person you see the dash, wind screen, the clip on's, and your hands. In the other, you just see the speedo. I prefer the one with just the speedo.
Yeah, I did a little search and came up with the 3 views. Any particular reason you like the one with just the speedo and tach at the bottom better than the one where you can see the instruments and windscreen? Just curious...
It's less cluttered...not "busy". I prefer the 3rd person view because I like to be aware of my immediate surroundings...and the bikes sound cooler...
The first person view with windscreen kind of blocks my view of the track. They are so dark.
The third person view I tend to over ride the bike and turn too much.
Cool, I'll check it out. Have you guys messed with how you can customize your rider style at all? I have been using the neutral style but I think I'm gonna go to Lean Body so I can get tighter turns. But what about the way you can totally customize your head angle and some sort of yaw and all that? Anyone mess with that yet?
I use lean body...your COG is lower in the turns but you're more apt to lowside. I tried to do a custom thing to match my own style...but then I remembered I suck so I went back with a default lean body style.
This thread has yet to go down the crapper so far- more than I can say about 80% of them in the past week. Things are getting crazy in the main forum.
It was so funny to just suck ass at that game while my brother and my buddy were kicking ass. They're good at GT, so they kinda carried it over to TT. I felt pretty silly, being that I'm the only one out of my friends who actually rides.
For the hell of it I tried the second test in the expert license exam where you take the Busa through the turns. If a real one is half as scary as the one on the game, those are insane. I tried it once and got the hell outta there. The R1 made me pucker a little also. Those are ridiculous.
Can't wait to get home and wreck some more!
I adjusted my rider position. Slightly. I bent is arm more, leaned him over a notch in turns, and stuck his inside knee out a little.
The Duc 999R is tons freakier than the 'Busa. I was actually riding the Busa okay. I haven't tried the expert test yet.
Another bike that just freaked me out was the ZX10R and the CBR1000RR. The F4 is smoother.
One key that helped me tons is at first I wasn't applying the rear brake at all. Just the front. The rear brake is R2.
So when I am on the gas, I hold L2 (tuck) and X (gas). When I need to brake, I left go of both at the same time and push Square and R2 and you stop a lot faster and then hit the apex and rolll and then it is back on the X/L2 combo. Sweet game.

Cool, good tip. I've been doing a sort of mashing between L2, R2, Square, X, and the gears. Pretty much a shitshow of jamming the buttons as I try to smoothly take the corner. It's a pretty awesome method. Psyche!
I haven't tried the 999R. But I did enter the contest to win a real one. Crossing fingers...now! I could really use (see: sell) one.
I can NOT stand the F4 1000...stock it's sluggish and with an exhaust it sounds broken. It has a ridiculous top end, too...I'm sorry but an F4 will not pass a lighter, more powerful bike (I was passing a K5 GSXR 1000 left and right...).
I'm not impressd with the CBR's, either.
So far my favorites are the Mille Factory and K5 1000.
Also I don't see how you guys can stand the whole shifting thing...I have to run it auto. All my games I have to run that way. When they come up with a way to make shifting realistic then maybe I can do it...

I don't ever play racing games on auto. It seems like a lot of the challenge would be lost if the bikes had automatic trannys.
That explains a lot. I use it on auto too. I tried to shift on GT4.
Can't do it. It is hard enough on auto.
The F4 might not be as fast, but I can beat the Aprilla with it. The Gixxer, CBR, and ZX10R are faster, it seems like, but squirly. I like the F4's sound with the pipe.
Ok, I thought that it seemed complicated with having a manual gearbox, but I felt that using an auto would be too easy. It sounds like there's still a lot of challenging aspects to the game with an auto. I'm gonna try that tonight and see if I can finally go one whole lap without lowsiding in the sand.
I don't like the manual feature because there's ZERO feedback. You're missing several key factors that make shifting in a game realistic...mostly you can't stall, you get ZERO feedback and it's basically paddle-shifting...and paddle shifting is just a hair under tiptronic (and equivelant) trannies on the ubergayometer.
Trying to be realistic in a game is already removing 3 senses and imparing to a great the degree the other 2 that are actually paramount in real life...in my opinion, trying to shift screws with what little you have.

Ha ha! Oh shaZam!, that's too funny. Well done.
Yeah, amen Mak. I can't play racing games without using a manual tranny. The autos are just... well, crap. Just like in real life.
I wish they made this for Xbox...
you misread, alpha...if I can't have the real thing, I don't want to deal with it at all.

Ohh, so I did. I still like the ability to engine brake when I want to rather than having an automatic upshift for me when I don't want it to, or to be able to hold RPMs through a corner and not have the tranny doing something I don't want it to.
My brakes and engine control in the game are far superior to what I have in real life, so playing GT and TT on auto doesn't bother me.
God damn man, I hate games like this. You know, the ones that you can't wait to play and think about while you're trapped at work? Those ones.
They have some cool race series' too. The ones for 2-strokes and vintage racers look cool. Even the T-Max one could be fun. Nothing like a bunch of idiots on race-modified scooters battling it out on the track!
I think the funnest race I've done so far was on some 250cc 2-stroke in motardland...that was awesome...

Please, do go on. I'm very interested. Was it on the circuit, or a challenge?
It was on arcade...I ran it with both the CB400 and I think it was a TZR250...both made for a badass race. Lots of turns...never really place for the little bikes' poor top ends to show.

Yeah, putting it on auto trans and choosing the cockpit view (where you can't see the bars and windshield) makes a HUGE difference. It's easier to focus on braking correctly and picking your line through the turn now. Thanks dudes.

need to get a few pics up here sometime soon, got the game a few days ago, i don't have alot of time to play it, just won the gsxr600 last night right before work, i had just enough time to flog it around the nurumburg ring, fantastic.
So I finally started getting the hang of it last night and kept coming within 2 seconds of having the Gixxer6, which was making me happy. Jo came over and she wanted to play, so I decided we should race the T-Max's, because she doesn't really play video games and anything bigger would be impossible for her. So that was fun.
Then Sean comes over, and after I bust my ass to finally get the Gixxer6, he gives it a whirl and in no time has the 750, the CBR6, and the R6. Whaaaaa? So I race him a few times, and he just beats the shaZam! out of me. So Jo asks to play, and I figure I'll let her and Sean go at it. She goes all the way to the right and asks if this is a fast bike. Yeah, it's a ZX10R, it's fast as shaZam!. So she picks it. And Sean picks the Gixxer1, and they're racing the Seattle course, which is tough. So I'm expecting a total crashfest, with Sean limping to a victory. Nope, each of them crashes maybe once and Jo beats him. What the hell?
Yes, the same Jo who hopped on my scooter and within 5 seconds was careening straight towards my cars and ended up crashing that 70cc powerhouse into the neighbor's bushes.
I know, it's a video game and has nothing to do with our actual lives, but it's funny that those 2 are just beating the hell out of me, and I'm the only one who rides. I was getting a kick out of it last night (or cursing at them and telling them to get out of my house, whatever).
Dave
The '05 Gixxer 1000, which I won yesterday, is a hoot. That bike is fast. And it is pretty easy to crash. I raced that 1200 Bimmer and fell three times and still won.
Also last night, I got home from the bar, bombed out of my mind and decided to try to do the Professional License test, or which ever one is just one step past "Junior". Anyway, I was finally able to complete all the test while drunk.
Once your not afraid to crash, the learning curve goes up pretty fast.
Totally true, once you get past the fear of wrecking, you can fly through it. Funny though how sometimes hitting the brakes in a corner makes you lowside, whereas sometimes doing the same thing in the same turn makes you set your line perfectly and fly through the corner. All part of learning the game.
I haven't played it bombed yet. I'd imagine you'd get better though because you'd stop riding like it was a real bike and start riding like it's a video game.
Another thing: has anyone set their rider style to Motard? Where would this be helpful? There are no true dirt courses or bikes, so I don't know why you'd use this style.
All the licenses suck...acquiring new bikes is lame...it's WAY too easy. Less than 2 hours total game time and I have a 999R...
http://www.photoartclub.net/touristtrophy/nurb.mpg
8:11.593...first joyride on it. Bike sucks stock...got to tinker with the boingers. She gets all crazy at high speed...
Anyway, I don't guess I can REALLY look at the simplicity and easy too lowly...in the real world you can walk out of a dlr with a new K5 1000 for $10k. It's a little more difficult in the car world...

Excuse me? Please, do go on...
The R1 is THE best bike on the game I've experienced so far. It's the only liter bike I've had let me ride fast at all times. My first jaunt out on it around nurburgring turned 7:59.111 and I wrecked like 11 times...
I've started riding the "Race Modified" version bikes (to enter the TT championship).
I've riding the YZF-R6 Race Modified '05 in the TT Championship Series. The other bikes are a Race Modified 'Busa, CB1300, and another Race Modified bike I can't recall. So far I won the first race with the R6 RM going away. Leguna Seca game me fits, crashed in the cork screw 4 out of 7 laps. Still finished second to the Busa.
One thing I've noticed is that right before I low side I get this feeling. Like, oh no! And bam! Sometimes I get that feeling and stand the bike up and brake and ride it out. That is, I think, the best quality this game has. That you can feel the limit to tire grip is amazing. And dumbfounding. But you can feel it, to be sure.
technical question!! do u have to have some kind of SPECIAL usb flash drive to save pictures on? i tried putting my normal flash drive that i use on my computer in and it wont recognize it... :dunno_white:
What kind of flash drive did you use? The game should recognize just about any usb drive...
its a san disk micro cruzer
that one's not supported...sorry.
These are confirmed working drives:
Confirmed working hardware:
- Creative MuVo MP3 player
- Kingston Data Traveller USB Pen Drive
- Sony Pocket Bit USB memory
- Sony Micro Vault
- SanDisk Cruzer Micro USB Flash Drive
- Media Gear 7-in-1 USB 2.0 memory card reader w/ PQI 256mb Hi-Speed Compact Flash
do you have a p&s digi cam? You might be able to use that as a storage device with a usb cable...I use my sony camera and it works.

hmm...didn't catch that...someone said later in the thread the micro was not compatible...I'll try to find out.
Try formatting the drive and trying again...
during replay, is it possible to stop, pause, rewind, slow mo? cause when im takin pictures i sometimes wanna go back and capture something else..
I don't think it is...I just tried playing with it and didn't see any controls. Just different camera views and stuff.
On another note...I just ran 5 laps around Suzuka on an race XB12R in the Monsters series...long complicated track...after the first lap I don't remember actually playing, lol...when I won I was like "what the f%$k?" I had to watch thereplay to figure what happened...haha..
Ahhh, you were in "the Zone." I reserve that for bowling and pornography.
i just got this last night. The learning curve takes abit. ihaven't played since GTA3 so my skills are a little rusty. I wanna know how Rogue got the pics of the wicked stoppies and wheelies.
the real jake D
Some bikes do it better than others. I'm using the controls for the independent front and rear breaks. Accelerate and pull back for a wheelie. Hit the front breaks hard (but controlled) for a stoppie. Some of the heavier or weaker bikes just wont do the though.
Got more pics coming soon. :thumb:
right now I've got a scooter, and a couple little 250's and the old cb400 in my stable. for some reason i like racing the smaller bikes. haven't had too much time to play though

So I forgot what this thread was about and I read that and got all pumped. Sell me your CB400! shaZam! I'm stupid.
Anyways, it always turns into a litre-bike shootout when my brother and my buddies come over, which is fun and all, but I always call a 250 and 500 race. Those are fun, man. Those things are whizzers!
The R1 run...

The code for this one is:
Up, Up, Triangle, Square, Square, Down, Down, Right, Circle, Triangle
Okay the races are so much more fun than the challenge stages. I wish there was more than one other bike though.
Here's some pics from the street machine cup. It was 1000cc or less and I wiped them all with the special edition 600RR that I won somewhere else. Don't mind the red riding gear, the last bike I was riding was the 600RR that looks just like Pablo's. So far the 600RR is the best bike I've ridden in the game. The last stage in the street machine cup at Midland Raceway was awesome. I raced against a ZX10R and we were withing about 2 hundreds of a second of each other until the last turn.

wheelies are fun..in the game that is.

the last three are from the race I just won. Coming down the straightaway at 160+ side by side was awesome.

did you modify those after you too them from the ps2? I like the burnt sienna look
hope the ankle is doing better.
jake
thanks jake. i modified them IN ps2. reduce saturation to b&w and adjust white balance to either burnt or cool..

i borrowed my sisters :(

Scooters are awesome
nice motard riding style too!
Im in love with the two strokes. Im in the process of beating all the street races with my NSR250R. These things are amazing.
i need to tkae more pics, yeah that racing scooter is pretty awesome, by scooter standards. i just wish they had a burgman650.
and whichever yamaha two stroke race bike has 91 hp and weighs nothing, that thing rules, i need to try to win it again, i keep failing.
i've been hooked on the cbr 600's for a couple days. I"ve beaten all the 600-1000CC street races with them. IT's time to move on.
Did the same here. Definitely not the fastest 600 in the game, but seems like the most stable. Much like the real 600RR from what I keep hearing. :thumb:
i like racing the liter bikes on some of the more wide open tracks. they kcik me in the straight, but i eat them in the corners, it's just like the GS.

Yeah, EXACTLY like the GS. Wait, not at all...
so im losing bikes from my bike list. as i win races and aquire more bikes i lose bikes from my list! and i keep winning the race modified R1 and it never shows up in my list! my memory card is 80% empty.

Um, press right within the bike list. It becomes many pages long as you build up your stable. The ones you most recently used are on the front page.
ya its still not there. and bikes still disappear.

Indeed...odd. I dunno what that's all about.
Maybe it would be okay to lose bikes if it were one of the 5 scooters I have.
I already quit playing this game and now I'm play The Godfather. My my lord that game is cool!
tourist trophy is frustrating the hell out of me. I won all the streetbike races, but i can't do the goddamn challenges to get any of the race bikes. bring on the cheat codes.
why cant u do the challenges?
i dunno, maybe as I age my vieo game skills are leaving me. i must have tried the damn 250cc challenge 20 time last night. and i either fialed for running off the road or couldn't catcht heother bike in 3 laps. it was frustrating

I say video game skills. If you look back in the early part of this thread, I couldn't win a race to save my life. Now I have half of the bikes and all the licneses. Granted my friend had a lot to do with that, but I'm still winning my races. Give it some time.
it's also lack of time to play. i played the game alot for a couple days and then haven't touched it in over a week because of all the school work I have (damn grad school) and my skills are definitely rusty.
Just grabbed the game today and it is alot more real then i thought it would be. Im used to playing MotoGP3 on Xbox but this game is a whole another animal. the handling in this is a lot more real. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:. I thought i would be up to par and i tried to run down the GSXR-750 as my first bike. That was a no go. I did not have the skill to keep it in the lines. :flipoff:

Ride the old 250's. Those are a ton of fun. Speaking of tons of fun, where's my girlfriend?
But seriously, the GSX-R is probably the most fun to ride. I love that bike.
Dave
Yeah im stuck at work right now, but i will be playing it when i get home today. I wanna do some of the the 1on1s so i get a feel for the tracks with out a whole lotta people around me. Even if i did do a race i would prob be all by myself anyway.
Dont let your girl hear you say that.... :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
I gotta sick vid of my race when i won the gsxr 1k. I will post when i do the whole camara thingy. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
man I don't know what it is but I really dislike the GSXR (both street and RM). The R1 is simply a better bike...The gix is more stable but the R1 is faster and hadnling can be a bit better, but she is about as unstable as they get. I've got more than one clip of my bike spontaneously falling over on the long straight at Nurburgring at 180+mph...also got a good one of a badass 210mph wheelie...awesome bike...
Go for the Honda's.
don't like the CBR's...can't seem to get them setup right. I'm a second slower around Valencia on the 600RR than I am the R6...then again with the GSXR 1k and 1000RR...I'm faster than all of them on the R1.
I'm a huge fan of the GXSR 600 in that game.
Got the Ninja up off the ground.... kinda fun.
