Question:
Alright guys, Which Fairing should I get out of the two pictured below:
Option 1: The one with the single headlight
Option 2: The one with twin headlights
Here's the Fairings:
Single Headlight

Dual Headlight:

Don't be afraid to post comments. Oh and I may or may not paint over the carbon fibre to match my bike depending on how good it looks when I get it.
Thanks for your input!!!
Any way you could provide a pic of your bike to possibly photoshop it? The Buell-esque dual looks pretty good without knowing what your bike looks like, though. The single looks too much like the Yamaha yzf600r (well, sort of). I vote dual! :thumb:

thanks for your input... my bike is in my Avatar... its kinda small, but just so you know, its a pretty much stock, factory RED '96 GS500E. I'm at work now so I don't have access to all my pics. but here's what I got:

I no longer have that clear windshield installed, it was just on there for one trip and now its broken.
sorry they're of pretty bad quality, it's all I got to work with for now
Come on now... over 40 hits and only 8 votes?
Vote ppl... it's your constitutional right!!! :icon_lol:
THERE!!! I voted!
I like the single, it looks cleaner.
Honestly I don't really like either that much, but I voted for the single. If I were to change from the big round headlight I'd go with something like on the Buell Lightnings, maybe with or without the addition of the flyscreen

Do you happen to know of where one can get the dual lights with the flyscreen? and What about cost?
the dual lights as pictured above on that buell in combination with that windscreen look really good! That would look awesome on a GS500E
I'm thinking I wouldn't put either one of those on a bike of mine...and I put some pretty crazy crap on my bikes...
wo!!!! I really like that single one!!!! where did you find it online. I really want one of those. too bad it's fake carbon fiber and not the real thing though.

I found em on eBay, and ya I'm kinda leaning towards the single one too... but I'm still unsure.
Thanks for your comment!
what did you search to find them? I promis I won't bid on it and make it harder for you to get (can't afford it right now), but I'd like to look around and see what other stuff there is like that.
Oh sorry... I forgot to post a link :cookoo:

The seller has a few different kinds of fairings. There's one that has 4 headlights on it... looks pretty mean, but the windscreen in HUGE and looks dumb.
And FINALLY a Canadian seller! So I won't have to pay out of my a$$ for shipping!
Where did the Wallflowers go??? :dunno_white: :dunno_white: :dunno_white:
To be honest I don't like either one. The huge gap between the headlight housing and the fairing looks tacky. The manufacturer needs to either make a custom headlight housing to fit properly or rework the mold for the fairing.

Oh really? well that changes things... Do you recall approximately how big it was, and how it looked on a bike? I'm in the process of getting more pictures and dimensions from the seller. and IF/hopefully WHEN I do install it.. you better believe there will be some pics on here! acompanied with a 'how the hell I got it to fit' (aka: How-to)
well first thing I found is them in the catolog that we have at my store. it says that they come in two different sizes, long and short. still looing for a pic of them actually mounted.

Thanks for the info Demon... I'll have a look too, I'm not sure how much I like that part where the fairing ends and the windscreen is really narrow, before it gets wider again. But seeing it on a bike could change things!
still working on finding a mounted pic of ya.
I found this thats close, still not mounted though....

and afew of the others this company has
http://www.rumbleimport.com/store/Scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=56
got somthing
this is the double headlight one mounted. I imagine the single one would look about the same

Demon... Dude!!! You're a machine! :o  Keep em comin'!
As for me, well I'm at work, so my research time is kind of limited! :icon_rolleyes:
Looking at the fairings from ebay, I saw that they come with measely little 35W bulbs. But they're H3's, and a quick search on ebay yeilded some pretty powerful PIAA 55W/110W H3 bulbs with a color temp of 4150K for pretty cheap. So that would be a defenite need-to-swap.
Personaly I find the one with the one headlight is lookinf like a cyclope (someone with one eye). I prefer the dual setting

That's exactly what I thought when I saw the Single Headlight fairing!!! I could call my bike Cyclops!
thanks for your input!

Since you didn't provide an option for "They both look like junk", I didn't vote...
You have a clean looking GS; as far as lighting is concerned, I hope you don't do much night riding if you're going to switch to that puny little single light. Of course, the dual-light rig is just as ugly...
At least the Buell lights are big enough to look like real headlights, instead of something stolen from a Matchbox car... and in case you haven't noticed, you already HAVE a Cyclops light on your GS, the classic 7" round light it came from the factory with.
I can understand that you might want to change your lighting, though I personally prefer the standard 7" round headlight for standard motorcycles. Think of how ugly the naked GS would be with a smaller round light, or a rectangular one. I suffered through the days of the stupid rectangular headlights (my '82 Honda FT500 Ascot had one, which I immediately scrapped for a round 7" light), and now this crap is available... the clown at the dealership "warned" me about possibly violating the warranty; I told him I only paid $2000 for the motorcycle, if Honda wants me to ride with a rectangular headlight, I'm going to charge them $5000... Here's a photo of one identical to mine before I switched the headlight:
http://usouko.urethane-ya.com/ZAIKO/FT500.JPG
BTW, here's another vote against that cheap phony carbon-fiber trash; bad enough that people put plastic "chrome" junk on a perfectly good motorcycle, but fake carbon-fiber is ridiculous...
i like the single, but i would paint it. personally i can't stand fake carbon fiber. good luck on the votes
Opinions are like A-holes and boy does mine stink.
I voted 2 lights but only out of a lack of options. these are worse than the steetfighter helmet cover lights.
That Buell is so sweet, I am gonna need new shorts. (ewww...sticky) I think I might sell my GS's and buy it. ;)

There are some sources for dual headlights in this recent thread (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=22874.0), otherwise I hear that the stock buell Lights are about $60 + flyscreen cost which I don't know

I did look at that thread, and I don't like the look of the buell style dual headlight
without a fairing or a flyscreen. And in case You havn't noticed... the headlight on the single light fairing actually looks like an EYE :o (hence the cyclops) very much unlike the perfectly round headlight that is already on my GS which looks... well like a round headlight. :icon_rolleyes:
Yes I agree with your comment about the carbon fiber... that's why I stated in my First post
"Oh and I may or may not paint over the carbon fibre to match my bike depending on how good it looks when I get it." And the fact that it's fake carbon fiber, odds are that its gonna look crappy... so that means Paint!

Ya Thanks for that one, I had taken a look at that thread, but I don't like to look of the dual headlight without the fairing, to me it looks like there's something missing.
Thanks for everyone's input so far!
