Hey Guys,
I just got my new carbs on and followed Dynojets bad instructions to the letter. Their recommendation was to seat the mixture screw and then back off two turns. Bike fired right up on full choke, but dies when the choke is off. Tried backing the jet screws out to richen the mixture and it got better, but still dies. I was going to reset the height of the floats, but don't know how to do so. Can anyone make any recomondations? It's a '92 500e with a stage one, K&N direct clamp-on, and new Vance & Hines full system. I would appriciate any suggestions. Thanks.
Did you CHECK the fuel level for each carb? If not, do that first:

Now you know why few of us bother with Dynojet and Factory Performance jetting kits; you're better off buying jets and swapping them without dealing with the stupid non-stock jets in those kits.
Is the engine warm when you turn the choke off? If not, don't make such an abrupt transition. SLOWLY close the choke as the engine warms, and see if there is a particular point where the engine stumbles or dies, then let us know. You DID remember to check the throttle and choke cables for proper adjustment, right? If they're not adjusted properly, or if they're binding, you're only going to chase your tail trying to solve this...
How many turns out from lightly seated are the mixture screws now? Don't go more than three turns out, or they could fall out from the engine vibration. Set each one exactly the same...
Do you have another set of carbs you could install? You mentioned "new carbs", which implies that you might have another set available to swap. If so, install the other set and see if everything works properly; if you still have problems, you might need to look elsewhere before you disssect the Dynojet carbs...
Thanks Cal,
After doing further research on the gstwin site I figured out the problem. I called Dynojet and spoke to their so-called tech person to decifer their vague instructions. I ended up having the needle washers on top of the e-clip instead of under it. Thanks for the fast reply.
Don't see how I helped you at all, but I'm glad to know you got everythiing working properly. Have fun...
