Title: What states can title a bike with no title?
Post by: scottpA_GS on April 11, 2006, 09:06:47 PM
Hello,

Anyone in a state that can title a bike with no title? I bought a GS last year and I still cannot get the owners to give me the title.. I have all the paperwork that I bought and paid for the bike. I will explain in greater detail if anyone thinks they can help..

Any ideas?

Can you demand a refund if they don't produce a title?  I think you can only insure the bike if you have the actual title.

I am thinking you might be able to talk to your DMV, and send for a lost/misplaced one as long as you can prove ownership. Give'em a call.  :thumb:

If you have a bill of sale, call up the DMV and see what to do.  Any bike with a clean history can be retitled in any state.

Thanks guys..

I have insurance on the bike.. All they needed was the VIN.. I have been riding it :) with a plate from an old bike  :flipoff:

I have talked w/ the DMV and what they asked me to do is a bit confusing.. I took all my paperwokrk to the local State Reps office to see what they can do  :dunno_white:

For now.. I have insurance and will still ride! :) I know I know.. but I just love it!

I did get a call back from the people I bought the bike from a year ago!! They said that they sent for the title and will get it to me ASAP.. but a year!!! come on!

Thanks for all the help. I hope that I can get this worked out
