They're blinding people. Might want to stop using it.
I noticed a difference with their new formulation, but I wear my contacts so infrequently, I guess I will have the horrible eyesight I now possess.
you might want to pick up a different variety...even if you use it infrequently. They're seriously giving people fungal eye infections...some are permanently blind.
infequently like I haven't worn them in like a year. I think I still have the sample bottles from the optometrist. Only wear them when playing sports and in my current condition I will have a stroke before I go blind. Thanks for the info Mak.
I've used it for about a decade or so. Is there documentation on this?
Yeah...CNN, NBC, ABC, Fox, BBC and Al Jezera are all doing pieces on it.
honestly From what I have heard it isn't the solution that is causeing the problem. It is that the solution doesn't prevent the fungus from growing. So its not the companies fault, more like people who don't take good care of their contacts and the solution isn't protecting them from the fungus. Either way, if i had contact i would switch for the simple fact that i would like something that actually cleans and kills things.
My eye doctor recommended that stuff to me but I could never find it. The Forbes article I read on it said it was just the stuff with Moisturlock. Oh well.

that's kind of misinforming...they haven't find any
direct link between renu and the fungus that causes blindness. it just happens that a small number of patients who were interviewed by federal officials happened to be using renu. that doesn't mean it causes blindness. and some wore their lenses overnight which is known to increase the risk of infection.
there are also same outbreaks in other parts of the world.
I wear extended-wear lenses....use and toss...never bother with cleaning solutions or saline solutions.... hmmm...it's been a couple of months...I ought to change my lenses again... :cookoo:
P.S. My doc recommends changing lenses once a week, so do as he says, not as I do! :nono:

Has anyone had eye surgery to correct their vision? I've thought about it, but I would hate to have the halo effect when I like use my bike as my main transportation, including at night.

There's over 100 reported cases of an extremely rare eye fungal condition in a really short period of time...they ALL use ReNu. Sayig Baush n Lomb are blinding people may be misleading, but you have to call stuff like this as you see it.
Thanks for the heads up. :o I only wear contacts when I feel like scaring people but I have ReNu so I'm gonna stop by the drug store and pick up a different brand.
Even if there is no direct proof, you only have one set of eyes so why risk it?
Okay, Jetswing. . . This one is not an urban legend. I thought I mentioned a Forbes article, which would have been a good place to start your search.
But here is a link.
http://www.forbes.com/lifestyle/health/feeds/hscout/2006/04/11/hscout532085.html
i never said it was fake...all i'm saying is that just becasue many of the patients are using renu solution doesn't mean it's the casue. there hasn't been any scientific link between the desease and renu. in fact, scientists are puzzled on the fact that the solution is not able to kill the fungus. pulling of the product off the shelf is all precautionary.
also, makers of renu are inustry leader wwhich mean many people are using the solution.i never said it was fake...all i'm saying is that just because many of the patients are using renu solution doesn't mean it's the cause. there hasn't been any scientific link between the disease and renu. in fact, scientists are puzzled on the fact that the solution is not able to kill the fungus. pulling of the product off the shelf is all precautionary.
also, makers of renu are industry leader which mean many people are using the solution. so even if renu is not the cause, the patient is most likely be using renu.
You can keep using it if you want to then, Mr. Happy Scientist. You've been warned.
Seems like an odd issue for you to talk a stand on. Are you from that right wing "Pro-Eye Fungus" group???
Freak.
i just want everyone to go blind

MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHA HAHA HA HA :icon_twisted:
I'm suddenly reminded of Cell...because for some reason my mind links the fact that everyone has eyes with the fact that everyone has a cell phone...

The Cell? You mean that movie with J. Lo and the serial killer with the whacked out mind that she goes into?
What an odd connection...
Or do you mean Cellular, that movie where that chick gets kidnapped and calls a guy randomly and it's his cellphone.
No...I mean Cell...the book Stephen King just dumped on the market about a fluke energy wave that nailed the earth and turned everyone using a cell phone at the time into a enraged, blood thirsty zombie.

Dude. Sweet.
I thought that you ment cell phone. The kind that was supossed to give everyone brain tumors, just like renu is supposed to give you fungus eye. :icon_rolleyes:
If people would just change their contacts like they were supposed to stuff like this wouldn't happen

I've been wearing mine for 3 months now, should I switch them? They're 2-week wears, but I'm cheap and wear them until they rip.
Yes! Change them. with two week contacts you could probably get away with wearing them for a month at the most but you should change them. It's also not a good idea to wear them at night either.

I'm kidding, I have Ciba Night & Day lenses. 30 days without taking them out. Sweet music.
Sometimes I stretch them out to 5 weeks, but that's when I'm feeling gutsy. ;)
