I was sitting around earlier today and thinking about how cool it is magic tricks are done the way they are. The "magic words" are alway whimsical jibrish, and it's always pulling a rabbit out of something. I just can't imagine how bizaar it'd be to go to a podunk show and hear some guy in a cape, pointing a wand, scream "The Life and Times of Henry Hudson" and then pull his head out of a bunny. That'd be crazy.
Just another thing I'm grateful for.
OMW???? You there????
Put down the crack pipe and step away from the thread...
I've been higher than this in Vegas, man. 8)
I was completely cober when thinking about this.
I can't believe I'm about to join this conversation seriously, but...
That's a very 70s/80s way of doing magic. With the popularity of street magic (David Blane, Oz Pearlman, Brad Christian, etc...) there's no more capes, wands, or tuxes. Definitely no more "rabbit out of the hat" kind of thing unless it's for children's parties which is pretty much the lowest form and presentation of the art. No more "magic words" either. It's all done with slight movements of the hands and body.
Sorry. I was trying really hard not to chime in. :thumb:
magic is GHEY
haha Most of it is AJ, but you need to lay back down :flipoff: because a lot of the street stuff is good. :thumb:
lol can you tell I am feeling much better?????
I used to have a magician come to these big parties that I'd have at my old place. He could vanish a card pretty good and he was making a lot of money off my guests. So I got him to agree to teach me how to vanish a card.
After practicing for a couple years, I can hold a card out in one hand and BAM! It's gone. Then BAM! It is back again.
Thanks Wild Wild Wes. That is a cool trick.
Oh, he also showed me how to levitate and tear a phone book in half. But those tricks are ghey.
I'm trying to refrain from talking about anything magic or letting it come out about how much I know. This is all in fear a new title of course, but it probably wouldn't be as bad as "plays with dolls". :thumb:
cooter
You just couldn't help yourself. Could you?
Nope someone says cooter in my pointless thread.... I say cooter in theirs!!!!
In many ways, cooter itself is a magic word. I mean, what else can make so many magical things happen? :flipoff:
Magic is awesome. There's occasionally a magician in Pike Place market, and they're a lot of fun to watch. Even if you're up close and know the basics of the trick. (or, I assume, even if you know the trick like the back of your hand), it's super hard to catch what's really going on. A good magician is awesome.
I saw a guy a while back that gave a great show. I saw him again the next day, and he was doing the same act super sloppy. It was kind of dissapointing.
