well, to go along with my bent intake valve I discoved the guide is cracked. This sucks, bad. If I order a replacement guide ($10) will the head need to be reamed to accept it or can I just drive it in? I know the ID of the guide will have to be reamed for the new valve but I don't really want to enlarge the hole in the head if it's not necessary.

You should not have to ream out the head for a new guide, however I'll check my manual to make sure.
Does the valve guide really need to be replaced?

thanks, I saw that post before and considered it. The problem is the crack runs along the length of the guide and grinding it down won't help unless the whole port side of the guide is removed. I'm going to order the new guide and have a local machine shop replace it. They do this stuff all day long so hopefully it will work out.

The manual does state to ream out the head. It lists 4 special tools:
Valve guide remover/installer, Suzuki p/n: 09916-44511
Valve guide reamer (12.3mm), p/n: 09916-34531
Valve guide reamer (7mm), p/n: 09916-34520
Reamer handle, p/n: 09916-34541
Thank you very much scratch.

edit - is that taken from the Suzuki shop manual? If so, where'd you pick it up? Are they available for sale (or download :thumb:) anywhere?
Climber manual.
