I would like to know if anyone has an Avon ST46 on the rear of their bike in a 140/80-17? If so, what did you have to do to get it to fit or did you not have to do anything? The motorcycle shop in my area has one and it has been sitting around the shop for a while and the guy told me that he would sell it for $100 (that includes mounting), but he didn't think it would work on my '05 GS. Any help would be appreciated.
I still have a 140/80/17 AV36 on my old GS and wore out a set of the AV45/46 on my 02 GS with the 140/80/17 rear.
Both fit without any alteration but are as close to the brake torque rod as you'd want to be. Our 3.5" rear wheel is the prefered size for a 140/80 tire.
The 140/80/17 tire is about 1 1/2" bigger in dia than the OE 130/70/17 so the rear of the bike will be raised about 3/4" if that is a problem for you.
