Last weekend I picked up a 1980 GS1100L as a project bike. It runs (kind of) but needs a ton of work, both mechanically and cosmetically. So far I've tested the charging system, spark plug gaps, and compression. Should take me around 4-6 months to finish it all up, including completely stripping it and sending off the frame to be powder coated and the tank and side covers to be painted.
Am I still welcome in the gstwins family if my GS is a 1100CC inline 4? :icon_lol:
Well you already have 470 post so you been here for a while already. And if nobody welcomed you when you first got here. I welcome you now. Your journey to the darkside begins...... :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted:
JCH...LOL, did you EVER have a gs? I thought you went straight to the SV? How you doing these days? been to any other trackdays yet? You know, I broke my collarbone at buttonwillow back in october and did a trackday again 3/24...and next saturday I'll be ripping it up at FONTANA!
Good to see you back. You're always welcome here. Those older gs's rock. you know about www.thegsresources.com dont you?
Haha of course! I put several thousand on the GS when I first started riding. I LOVED that bike!! :icon_mrgreen: Still wish I had it sometimes... so flickable and fun!
I know about your collarbone :( I was there! After that I hit big willow (lowsided turn 4b, walked away fine, so did bike), streets, and bwillow again. Was going to go to big track last month but had to cancel early. Can't wait to hit the track again!
The gsresources is now my obsession ;) Great bunch of people, just like on here. No way I could do this project without them :)
