I'm getting ready to ship my GS over the Pacific to Hawaii. The carrier that I'm going thru won't take it if theres any gas. I have to drain the tank and run the engine till she stalls out and burns everything off. The problem is that my GS with be in a crate for atleast 2 months before I can get to her. Is there anything I can do to prevent corrosion from starting with an empty tank?
You might be able to use fogging oil in the cylinders and the gas tank but you would have to to clean out the tank really good before you tried to start it
Any other opinions?
That's a tough one... The salt air is just going to make it worse...
What does Suzuki do to 'em when they ship to the US?
Maybe put a tablespoon of oil in each cylinder through the spark plug holes and hang some of those silica dry air packet things in the tank.

Your bike will be ina container most likely. if not the company shipping it will be able to tell you exactly how it will ship.
either way, it wont be "at sea" for two months. only a week, tops. then it will sit in the crate waiting for you.

store it as you would in your garage for two months. drain the carb reserviors and the gas tank. I'd run her dead too.
disconnect or remove the battery. and pray the ship don't sink.

The manufacturer's use cosmoline, but I haven't been able to find any. In addition to running Stabil (which I think is a good idea), is to coat the tank with maybe half a quart of 2stroke oil. The 2stroke oil will at least burn with the gas, when you refill it.
