so im riding home from work at the air national gaurd base and I take the long way through the city. I like riding through the city because its just nice to cruise between buildings. anyways the stupid college girl slamns on brakes and to make a long story short I hit the brakes hard and tried to pump them some what but they stopped me alright then I was thrown off the bike about 8 feet and slid a couple more feetthen bike went down as well ofcourse and ended up somewhere in the middle of the road. I was so freeken pissed that i got up and picked up my bike like it was a rag doll and started it up and road off to the side of the road.. my arm started to throb bad.. I parked the bike and went to pick up the pieces that broke off which was only the susuki emblem on the crank casing and another piece from my casing. so thats cracked and so is my gauge pod for the tach, the muffler was sscraped up more and the tank was dented in pretty bad and my bar ends surprisingly held up but are scratched all up. the new brake lever is scratched up but everything else is good. I road it home even though I think I fractured my wrist because I can barely move it now and it hurts like hell. its just bullshit because there were so many people walking around and no one even stopped to ask if I was ok. none of the cars stopped or anything traffic just went around me. it was a big wreck not a little tumble. I dont get it. do people just not give a shaZam!?
I forgot to add I was wearing my joe rocket leather jacket and my backpack along with my steal toe combat boots and my BDUs... my BDU pants are all tore up and I slid on one of the snappes on the jacket.. it took most of the slide. I tell you im so glad I wear all my gear now. there is another life saving story for everyone for wearing your gear!
I stopped to read your story... sorry bout your bike man... I hope your arm is ok!
Austin
Wow sounds like a rough day. Sorry about your bike and wrist...better get that checked out.
Sorry to hear that dude. That really sucks. Go get your wrist checked out. Leaving it to heal on its own is a terrible idea. The last thing you want is to end up with limited movement in your wrist for the rest of your life.
Get better soon!
-Turd.
Yeah get checked out and heal up fast. Bikes can be replaced, range of motion can't. Get better soon Josh!

I can vouch for that. I have a fractured elbow and thumb from longboarding that I never got checked out or anything. I can't really use my thumb for anything useful (is actually getting stronger, slowly), and my elbow hurts whenever I set it on something (is actually neat 'cause I can see the bone fragment floating around in my elbow). This all happened about 2 years ago.
goto the doctor, nig.
haha but really, that sucks man.. What hand was it? the wife or the girlfriend?
;)
We'll still ride this weekend tho.. O0
well, seeing as you were on your way home from national guard...
you should have free medical at the moment... correct?
Free medical can't be beat.... get it checked out.
Otherwise, I'm sorry to hear about the bike man, I hope you get it all straightened out.
That sucks man!!!!! ....... get that wrist checked out, get better, and thank you for wearing your gear!!!
Wow. Glad you're okay and your gear worked as advertised. Like everyone said, bikes/parts can be replaced.. your life can't. I would definitely get your wrist looked at ASAP. The last thing you want is it to scar over, and affect your range of motion permanently bothering you for the rest of your life.
As far as people stopping to help, I guess it depends on the mentality of the people where you live. I'm sure if someone who rode motorcycles saw what happened, they would've helped you out. I know I would've.
What's that crap Suzy Orman always says, "people first, then money, then things." Take care, bro.

If you're wrist or thumb blows up it's an impact break and you will (I know) need a cast for a bit (thrice been there dude). Wait a day and get a X-Ray on base if you can. Sucks about traffic and stupid drivers. Sounds like a good recovery though. Beats the piss out of planting the forks in a bumper.
Things just never fall into place here in Richmond. Jah went down this afternoon then I head to the bar to find out that another friend of mine got hit by a cage tonight.
No details on Chris yet. Hope hes alright.. Hes in the ICU at MCV according to the last report.
ARRRGGGHHH why dont people see us?!!? We deserve to use the roads just as much as the cagers do... hell or more so cause we arent wasting gas wholesale like the average cager these days. I drive trucks for a living. Ive seen how the average American drives.. Talking on the cell phone head set or not should be illegal. I almost killed some girl in my fedex truck cause she ran a red light.. If the dumb B*tch would have stopped yapping for a sec she would have seen the FEDEX just inches away from her car. But she just kept on yapping with no clue how close she came to getting killed and ending my career(ending my career is all that matters here, I would have felt no sympathy for the b+tch). The skid marks are still there.
Coming from someone who is paid and very well trained to drive....
If you think you are a good driver, Chances are you ARE NOT!!  :nono:

I've learned from my mistakes. My mistakes being me effing my car up. I'm a far safer driver nowdays.
I don't talk on my cell phone when I drive. Period. Unless I'm parked the phone stays down.
I'm so angry about this I can only tell you that I hope you see a doctor right away, and that you heal quickly. Damn dangerous drivers should be horse-whipped... Hope the other guy survives his injuries, and eventually makes a full recovery; keep us posted on this, OK? Let us know what parts you need, so we can dig through the bins...
Man, sorry to hear about you and your bike man. At least you don't have to live with the fact that it was YOUR fault for wrecking the bike! I wouldn't be able to live with myself if i wrecked my bike and it was my fault. And like everyone else said, go get your limbs checked out. Small price to pay at the doctors to avoid a possible bigger issue down the road. Consider it a small bit of insurance on your joints. :)
FedExMike:
I consider myself a "safe" driver because I'm always on the defense and always thinking about the what-if's and avoiding them, finding an out to those what-if's. It just comes natural now after you've done it for so long. I do however believe that there will always be room for improvement. There's always some new technique waiting to be learned to make my driving even safer so while I consider myself a "safe" driver, I don't consider myself "the safest" driver.
Oh, I do talk on the cell phone while driving, but if there's traffic around me or I'm doing something other than cruising in the right-hand lane, I'll tell whoever I'm talking to to hold on while I make my manuevers. I always keep a good distance between the driver infront of me so rear-ending someone isn't that much of an issue as even if I'm talking, my #1 focus is the road at all times. Sometimes I'll even ask who I'm talking to to repeat what they've said because I spaced them out due to a possible hazard on the road.
But anyways, if traffic is getting too unruly and nasty, I will let whoever I'm talking to go. For example, rush-hour traffic! Or any traffic as bad as rush-hour. Talking on the phone while driving will always reduce your ability to react to some degree, no matter how careful you are. I just feel I'm one of the safer cell phone drivers. :P
Sorry to hear about your wreck :dunno_white: .... rest up, heal up.... and ride another day :thumb:
Glad you were wearing your gear. I hope you heal up quick and get back out there.
What happened? You hit the brakes so hard you flew over the handlebars? You didn't hit the car?
Why did you have to pump your brakes? Where they not working? Front or rear?
Sorry about your crash man, see a doc about your wrist.
bummer.. dude. :o
good job wearing the gear, though. :thumb:
how'd the BDU's hold up?
Glad you survived. See the doctor. And, I hope you feel better.
I really dont know what happend to tell you the truth, I lost control of the bike though and I guess my human nature decided for me to dump the bike , if I hadent fallen off I would have hit the car. But I still am not sure what the hell I did to fly off the bike, it just happend to fast.
I am in better spirits today. shaZam! happens, and mistakes are made. My wrist still hurts pretty bad. I went into work today at 645am and ran the mill and lathe all day. The wrist makes things a little harder to work but I made do. I am going to have it checked out tonight I beleive. and YES I HAVE FREE MEDICAL through the USAF thank God. I play guitar so I definatly need to get this wrist working right again. The bike isnt so bad. here is what I need to replace.
-crank case cover ( i think thats what its called on the right side of the engine where the Suzuki symbol is. )
-Right Gauge pod (I think I will try and make one on the lathe out of aluminum though)
-new gas tank.. (this one works but is all dented and scraped up)
-new pegs (they were allready crap anyways and Im making some new ones out of SS tomorrow)
I think thats really all I need now.
is there any suggestion on bike parts I should make or weld. I am having a tuff time thinking about them.
the V&H exhuast pipe is all scraped to hell. Im working on replacing the system with SS though.
I appreciate everyones comments.
the bike still works and runs good , so Im happy about that. and ofcrouse most important I work and I run good still ;) .
Im going to get my wrist checked out now. I will let every know the verdic.
thanks
Josh
i just got the wrist checked out . its not broken just muscle tissue inflamed. got to wear a splint for a week.
Good news, heal up well!
wrist is feeling great today. bruises finally all showed up on the rest of my body though. I didnt think I landed that hard but im banged up a lil haha. nothing major though. I would have been happier if I crashed doing a cool stunt though. not on the street but somwhere controled.
gotta wait a week to make my new pegs and some other parts on the bike. damn OSHA is coming to our shop and doing a sefety inspection. so we dont want to actually do any work while they are there. the shaZam! that osha wants is retarted so we figure it best to just go play on the comp and make layouts all day.
