why not run the recommended pressures? I run about 32 up front and 34-35 in the back.

I'm running the stock numbers if my pressure gauge is right. I've noticed the rear tire is starting to square the tread in the center.

That's because you drive straight a lot

I run the reccomended rates for the street and slightly decreased for the twisties. Roughly 29 in the front and 31 in the rear.

i've noticed that i din't get as many miles as I expected outta my sport demons my first back only last about 5k if that. The front is due for replacement now too at about 5k or a little more.  They're great tires, but they seem to wear quick. PA's sucky ass roads don't help alot either.

Time for some cheng shins like srinath swears by.

I got ~4k out of mine...

It's better than supersport rubber, which would only last me ~2500-3000 miles.

5 000 mi = 8 046.72 kilometers

4 000 mi = 6 437.376 kilometers

Google, for all your conversion needs.

I ride mine pretty hard, so you can probably expect a good 6.5k kilometers out of them.

If you knew anything about tires you'd know that higher air pressure will cause the center to flat spot.

It also happens when you drive straight a lot, which is a higher contributing factor than the pressure.

...?  Surely you're joking.  On cars, with a square tread, this is true.  On bikes....?  I wasn't aware that pressure had anything to do with this.

Tire pressure has everything to do with it...  Low pressure or high pressure will screw yout tire wearing.

So...  Just keep the pressure right.

225/250...  Whatever that is in PSI.

If it's kPa... 32.63/36.26

I actually used the conversion chart in the back of my Thermodynamics book for that one...

And yeah, it's 2:30 right now and I am not getting any sleep soon as my roommate and a friend are watching TV. So yeah. I've got some time.

I'm running 36 front and 38 rear on my Lasertecs and it's working well for me.  I'd use the same with Demons.

Suzuki spec is 33 front and 36 rear in psi.  All of the tire mfgs provide charts for tire pressures as guides for what they reccommend.  Varies some with tire size.  Like this one from Metzeler:

The 36 front and 38 rear are the higher settings for a solo rider and the lower settings for 2 up light for my tire sizes.  I weigh about 250# now.

Yes, but a squared off tire (flat in the middle) after considerable mileage is not a sign of too much tire pressure.  No way.  That's what my post was stating, I deffinately wasn't clear enough, my bad.  You can run 12 PSI or you can run 55 PSI, if you don't take your bike out on the twisties often you will wear the middle of the tire no matter what.

But, if your pressure is too high or too low, you will not wear the tire evenly...  Too low will make the center flatter and too high will make the center steeper.

Just like with car tires...  The wrong pressure screws up your wear pattern.

And look what he said to me. After reading it over I get more and more confused.

Well...  Sorta...  It'll make the flat spot smaller, but flatter...  So, instead of |__________| it would be |--------|

With car tires you'll get a flat spot only in the center, which is normal for moto tires, but highly unusual for car tires.

Just run the right pressure and don't worry about it!   :icon_razz:

A higher pressure does cause the tire to become more pointed, which causes faster turn in, but not as compliant at full lean.
A lower pressure causes the tire to become less rounded and more flat along the center, thus causing a slower turn in, but can be more compliant at full lean.

These are both taking into account you're within a reasonable range from the "normal" pressure.

Honestly though, the reasons tires wear out in the middle faster than they do on the side for most people is that they spend most of their time going straight. Pablo on the other hand...
